Re: TAI Member Pet's Help and Discussions!
If its a fresh water aquarium ,then you can start off by using some good RO purified water.
They are filter systems which are the size of a small dustbin which sit under the aquariums, they have various types of fibers inside them & these ensure 3 to 6 months(depending on capacity) of hassle free maintenance. I think they are called external canister filters.
Also the type of light being used in the aquarium has effects on algae growth(avoid sunlight) which is not good for fresh water aquariums. Dont leave the light on 24hrs a day.
Dont over feed the fish, spread the food over wide area if you have fishes snatching food away from other fishes.
Make sure you powder some hard pellets for smaller fish or it can make their stomach clog/swell.
I have marine aquarium(salt water) so its a bit diff from freshwater aquariums, all the waste goes & gets collected in a can called a protein skimmer.Something like a natural RO tank. And if aquarium has natural sea elements in it like live sand and wet rocks from the sea, then the fish can stay fed on these & only have to feed less once a day.
