The Hinduja Group owned Switch Mobility has delivered six Switch Solo Electric Buses to Translink, Northern Ireland’s main provider of public transport.
  • Four buses will run routes in the Coleraine area with the remaining two on a route taking passengers to the iconic Giant’s Causeway.
  • This project supports Translink's vision to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030 and operate a net zero emissions fleet across Northern Ireland by 2040.
  • The Switch Solo is designed and developed utilising Switch's global electric bus experience with variable seating layout and lengths making it suitable for urban, sub-urban and rural routes.

Switch Mobility has now secured an order for 70 buses from Stagecoach, one of the UK’s leading bus and coach operators.
  • The order consists of 10 Switch Metrocity 9.5m electric buses, which will operate on Route W11 in London and 60 Slimline Solo 8.5m, Euro 6 certified buses sold under the Optare brand.
  • The Solo buses will support Stagecoach in replacing part of their significant fleet of Solo buses across the country. Metrocity will go into operation in early 2024 and the Solo’s during the first half of 2024.
  • Optare Solo is one of the UK’s most recognisable buses, with 4,000+ having been produced. The 8.5m slimline will be manufactured to Stagecoach’s exacting specification and provide seating for 28 people.
