Suzuki Motorcycle & Scooter India has been teasing a brand new scooter for the domestic market since November 9 and the common belief is that it will be the electrified version of the Burgman Street. The speculation came about as a result of the test mules of the Burgman EV being spotted testing on public roads on a regular basis in recent months.

The latest teaser video spanning 15 seconds confirms that it is not an electric scooter as the stubby exhaust can be clearly seen. It carries a tagline ‘Announce your arrival to the world! Get style, zip and everything in between’ while giving away some of the obvious design details. The Japanese manufacturer currently sells the Burgman Street 125 and Access 125.

2021 Suzuki Avenis 125cc scooter launched at Rs 86,700

suzuki-avenis-launched-.jpg

Suzuki Motorcycle India today launched a new 125cc scooter in the country. Rolled out with the likes of TVS NTorq 125 and Yamaha RayZR in its sights, the new scooter has been christened Suzuki Avenis which boasts a sporty design and connectivity features and several colour options. This is the third 125cc scooter in Suzuki’s lineup in India, with the others being Access 125 and Burgman Street in the lineup.

While the Access and Burgman present a grown-up design and styling, the Avenis seems to be aimed at younger buyers with a much sporty design with elements that pick inspiration from motorcycles. It gets a centrally mounted LED headlamp with integrated DRL, turn indicators positioned on the handlebar cowl, a small windscreen and an edgy finish to the side panels. The scooter comes with a split triangular LED tail lamp, split grab rails, external fuel filler cap at the rear, USB charger, and will be available in dual-tone paint schemes.

Sorry to say, it's just a half-hearted attempt. Styling also blandly copied from NTorq and retained the same malnourished rear treatment like they did with Burgman. Still are using Access engine and gear box setup without any change, and I doubt, the same chassis. At least they could've extended the wheelbase and added chunkier tyre.

Suzuki has launched four new colours for its Avenis 125 scooter at no additional cost. The scooters are priced at the same Rs 92,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi), but the scooter is identical to the earlier version.

The four new colours are Glossy Sparkle Black / Pearl Mira Red, Champion Yellow No 2 / Glossy Sparkle Black, Glossy Sparkle Black and Glossy Sparkle Black / Pearl Glacier White. Other than the new colours, the scooter remains mechanically unchanged.

The Avenis comes equipped with a 125cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that delivers 8.7hp at 6,750rpm and 10Nm at 5,500rpm. With an accessible 780mm seat height and 160kg kerb weight, the Avenis should be manageable for riders of most sizes. The suspension setup comprises a telescopic fork and a preload-adjustable monoshock. Braking is managed by a front disc and a rear drum.

The Avenis is the most recent launch in the Suzuki scooter line-up and is mechanically identical to its siblings, the popular Access 125 and Burgman Street models.
