I got my car serviced like 10 days back,so don't think i'll be going for it. Went for the monsoon check up last year, they checked all the oil levels, topped up the windshield washer fluid,checked the AC cooling,etc and did a general clean up of the car inside out. All this for free. This one should be similar.

Thanks a lot ToughGuy. Yes the first service went pretty fine. No fuss,nothing. Pretty much satisfied with the overall experience.

A very stupid thing happened though, i got my car through CSD and last year in the Insurance papers it says the owners name as Canteen Strores Department,rather than my Dad's name. And we never noticed either. Now this time around, i got it renewed and again this new one says Canteen Stores Department as the owner. Now one of the executives from the Oriental insurance from whom i got it renewed called up and said that i won't be able to get a claim in case of one as the insurance is in the name of CSD and not my father.

However, the registration(RC) of the car is on my Dad's name. So running around these days to get the name changed on the insurance papers. I hate it when people screw it up in important paperwork and you have to run around unnecessarily to get it fixed.

Yes even i am hoping for that. Had spoken to their manager about this change of name few days back. He said he will be sending someone to do the inspection of the car before getting it done. Have been waiting for 4 days now and still no one has arrived at my place. Might just take the car to their office and get all the inspection and other formalities done there itself whenever i get time.

Yes there was a problem of the under seat frames getting rusted in the earlier models. They are being replaced free of cost by VW.

Yes ToughGuy, doing that only. Still no work done as yet as half the time the manager is not there who is supposed to approve this ,sometime the surveyor is not there who has to have a look at the car before they change the name on the Insurance papers. Will be going tomorrow again.

actually i want to thank you for such a wonderful review and regular updates regarding your experience with polo. i had booked polo TDI , candy white and could only go for TL variant due to some ongoin offers on the same . after booking i was confused after reading so many reviews that blamed one thing or the other of the polo, be it the 3 cylinder engine or ground clearance or sudden breakdown. i almost thought it was a wrong decision to buy one. but after reading your review my faith in german engineering has been restored. i am eagerly waiting now for my very own first car right after my graduation. n being from jammu i hope i will enjoy the hilly terrain just as much as you did in your ride.

Glad to know that i could be of some help Roxtarr. Congrats on your booking. I too got my Polo immediately after my graduation. The car has surely not let me down in any department. Yes i have driven it extensively over hills and it surely has performed decently. Though i can say in today's date and age, none of the products being offered by any of the manufacturers are bad. But each one comes with its sets of positives and negatives. If your heart is already set on the Polo, i am sure you will have no regrets later in your decision. Its a brilliant solidly put together product. So when is the car being delivered to you? And what offers did you get on the Trendline Tdi?

I have a little concern regarding the Fuel Efficiency of my Polo. A recent calculation by tankful to tankful method gave me a figure of 14.2kmpl. This is with 100% city drive and with AC on all the time. Although it could be due to the scorching heat here in North India as the temperature is close to 43 degrees here and AC has to really put in its best to cool the cabin which does affect the Fuel Efficiency i guess. Previously I had been getting 17.5-18kmpl in city with AC on all the time.

Though I am really happy with the car's AC performance even in this heat, i am a little stressed with the fuel efficiency I am getting. Similar condition and similar running with 100% AC on in city runs, our Fiesta Classic is giving close to 18-18.5 kmpl.

Other Polo owners can put in there feedbacks? Rightnow & ToughGuy, how are your Polo's performing in the Delhi's heat?

Even same kind of heat conditions in Hyderabad(may be bit more) with 100% AC my car gives 18+ with single person, may be it depends on traffic some times it just returns 15kmpl only

Hey .. I finally got my polo delivered yesterday and to my surprise it was before the promised date. Had a wonderful experience during delivery and evrything was smooth. Hav been enjoyin each and every minute with my polo. Will write a detailed review shortly. Although i am quite happy with the engine response, d noise is a bit bothering though. The offers i was talking about includes-
Zero percent finance by volkswagen ( emi for 2 yrs )
Painted orvm and door handles - free
Teflon coating- free
Foot mats- free
Mud guards- free
Vw original car cover- free
Four door speakers- free
4-5 free vw original keychains ( i demanded for an extra one and they handed me 4 of dm)

Other than ex-showroom price i had to pay for-
Insuarance( bumper to bumper)- 21500
Temp no- 1000
Changing headlamps (exchanging original)- 3000

Got poineer HU ( wanted usb n aux ) - 14500

I have certain issues fr whch i need ur hlp , plz plz help me out !!!
1) as per my calculations the fuel consumption is near 12-13 km/l , is it normal for a new tdi engine.
2) engine noise is somehow bearable bt the gearbox ratteling and shaking (vibrations) at 4th gear is surely annoying , wil it get bttr with time.
3) i dont wnt to sacrifice on warranty bt isnt there any way of getting a remote locking system for polo. Have to get out of car, and lock with key- doesnt feel dt gud !!!!
4) i wanted to instal a reverse parking camera bt dt dealer said that he wud hv to peel of a wire a bit using a clamp and it wont void warranty, is it true ???
5) very imp for me - my MID only shows outside temp, time, service interval, bt i desperately want it to show distance to empty ,, tried everythin bt not able to set that up ........ Please help !!!!

Its too early to come to the conclusion. Wait for atleast 5k on odo.

Yes, it will get better with time.

Is your Polo highline variant? I think only highline owners get this feature. I'm not fully sure, checkout with the dealer.

17.5 kmpl in the city? That is/was awesome mileage I must say. In the city, the best I have got is 16kmpl. On the highways, I get atleast 20.5kmpl. Sometimes more when I leave at 4:00 AM to trivandrum from kollam.
My average mileage is 16.5 as of now according to Fuelio (an app I use to keep track of amount of fuel used, mileage etc etc. Lovely app I must say).

All this is with 100% AC.

1. Yours is a brand new car right? It is too early to get good mileage but I remember my MID used to show 16 in the city and upto 25 on the highway during running in when I restricted RPMs and top speed to 70.
2. My car has no rattles/shakes in the gear lever till now. You can take it to the A.S.S and ask them to check it out.
3. VW people will make a big fuss about warranty unless you do it at their A.S.S.
4. Splice a wire and you WILL lose warranty.
5. CL/HL models have a fully functional MID. TL does not. There is a button on the indicator stalk which helps you toggle between the various options.

Traffic is not that much of a problem here. But the drop in mileage has been a real surprise. Though it may be because my sis also drove it 3-4 days back for like 40kms, and her left leg is almost always on the clutch pedal while driving. Still wonder how her Verna's clutch plate is surviving after 1 and half years
18+ in city runs is excellent Gurrala sir. Even i was getting close to that previously. Maybe i have been accelerating a little too hard these days which caused the dip. Will be more careful this time and see if the Fuel efficiency increases.

Congrats Roxtarr on your Polo. Good to know you got it before the expected date.

I'll try answering your questions.
1. Your car is brand new at present and the Fuel efficiency will increase over a period of time. Specially you should calculate it when you hit the 5000km mark when the engine has settled down a fair amount. I would advise not to revv the car too hard in the inital 2000kms. Keep the RPM below 2500. This will also improve the mileage.

2. If there is rattling noises coming from the gear box, you should get it checked immediately. This is not normal. But on the other hand, vibration levels are slightly on the higher side than compared to some other vehicles specially on the clutch pedal and the floor. When i had got my car, i was a little worried about the vibrations coming from the floor and the clutch pedal, so had gone to get it checked from the workshop. There they told me it is normal for all Polo's, and I drove like 3-4 other Polo's standing there and felt the same in each one of them. Now I'm more or less used to it but the clutch vibrations have almost vansihed and floor vibrations have reduced considerably after clocking 5000kms.

3. Remote locking would surely void the warranty. Even i had asked them and they said the same to me. I am happy with closing it with the key, doesn't bother me much.

4. Ask other dealers regarding rear camera, Volkswagen Pathankot for example. That might help. Rear camera should not be much of an issue IMO.

5. My car's MID shows Distance to Empty and service interval and the time. In order to get the Distance to empty, you need to try this. Drive till your car's Fuel level shows the low fuel indicator. When that light comes on, the MID automatically gets sets in for Distance to empty. Try it. Else you can ask, the workshop people to set it for you. Distance to empty feature is available on the Trendline variant.

Yes i was getting around about 18kmpl in even city runs. Here in Chandigarh, we don't have any bumper to bumper traffic. Its a free flowing city with huge roads and less of congestion. So the fuel efficiency can be maximised if the car is driven properly. Recently i guess i have been pressing it too hard which may had caused the dip. Let's see if it improves in the future with a little sane driving.

Yes i am aware of tht app. But i am using a BlackBerry these days and they Blackberry app store just sucks to say the least. Will be heading the android way soon, this app should be of help then.
