Re: Sporty Yet Elegant: My Candy White Volkswagen Polo TDI

Top speed is not exactly what is shown on the speedo. It is usually much lesser than what is shown because of over-enthusiastic readings. If the top speed reached on the speedo is 170, the actual top speed will be less than that.

Again, the petrol Polo might beat the diesel in the 0-100 timing but the 0-120 or 0-140 timing of the diesel will be better because of the better torque.
Yes i guess the speedo shows +5kmph by default, so the speed in that case would be around 165kmph in real.

One of my uncle from US is here these days. He is 6'5" and with a little heavy built. So have been chauffeuring him around for last 2-3days in my Polo. Poor guy literally gets stuck every time he has to get inside or get out of the car. Polo surely is less on space for someone of that height and width.[:D]

Re: Sporty Yet Elegant: My Candy White Volkswagen Polo TDI

Went on a trip to Dalhousie again to see Mom and Dad. Luckily for me it snowed that very day and it was all covered in white. Had gone by State Volvo bus this time as my parents were strictly against me driving alone all the way there from Chandigarh.

Here are a few selected clicks from the trip

That is a bunker - Soldiers guarding no matter what the weather is. BIG SALUTE!

Man this place is beautiful. I would start shivering if I stare too long at the pics!!
Yes it was an absolutely stunning scenery all around. Temperature in Dalhousie was around minus 5 degrees. Now back in Chandigarh after 3 days there and it feels as if the summers have already set in here.[;)]

Yes you should make a trip to north India and exploring places here. Dalhousie is surely one of the best hill stations i've been to. Really love the scenery there.

I have already planned a road trip with my friends for Leh-Ladakh for this May. Eagerly waiting for that.

Thanks a lot ToughGuy. Glad you liked the snaps. The whole place just turned majestic when it started snowing. Hardly it snowed for like 4-5hours and there was almost 1.5-2 feet of snow all around after that. Complete white blanket over the place. Blissful sight.

Will surely upload more pics by evening as they are in my laptop and currently i am out and browsing through my phone.

On the Polo front, a very funny incident happened yesterday. Was on my regular route on the Chandigarh - Ambala highway. Was on my way back from Ambala and as soon as i hit the highway, a police Gypsy had blocked the highway and were diverting the traffic to an inner road. Unfortunately i was the first one to be stopped and diverted. So i took a right and headed to the inner road. Went a good 5kms inside and got a bit lost. Stopped to ask for directions, got to know i have to drive another 5kms on this road and then take a left from where i can hit the highway again. I started driving on that road. It was all lush green fields on both sides and a small road in between which made me stop and click a few pics. Later when i took the left turn, the most horrendous of the roads I've ever driven started. It was all muddy without any Tarmac and was so uneven with huge craters and bumps even an SUV owner would think twice to go over that road. I had a Nissan Sunny and a Hyundai i20 in front of me and we all must be doing a speed of 10-15kmph in 1st gear itself. At one point in the middle i felt i should take a U turn and head back but still kept going as the other two in front of me were carrying on. Luckily for me my car didn't scrape the underbelly even once as i was driving way too cautiously. Nissan Sunny did scrape the underbelly as the owner stopped to check if there was any damage to his car. For those 5-6kms i literally had my heart in my mouth. Next time if at all ever i am directed to that road again,i would seriously do some extra 50-60kms and go from a different route than to travel on this one.

Some pics taken of that inner road(the good part[;)]) from my phone. Sorry for the picture quality.

Great pics. I flip whenever I encounter less than ideal roads.

Thanks a lot for sharing wonderful pics above, this surprise turn seems worth. Regarding these shortcuts they most of the time play spoiler, once a state transport bus driver ahead me on NH-8 put his bus in the paddy field due to the huge traffic pile up near Bawal, he somehow managed to pull out his bus from slush but cars behind him got stuck thank god i stopped myself from following him at last moment.

Yes even i'll have to do the same. The worst part was my phone's GPS was not working properly that day. Got hanged and i couldn't use it, else would have taken some other route. But yes a sure lesson learnt.

Your most welcome ToughGuy. Yes upto a point it did seem to be worth it. After that it was more like a slow roller coaster ride sitting in the drivers seat.

Saw a shadowfox blue Polo on road today. Looked really nice with those smoked headlamps and the updated new alloy design. Color gave a very royal look to the Polo.

When i got my car almost an year back, mine was the only Polo in my housing lane. Now there are 3 more Polo's and all are white. Lost the exclusivity.:stupid:

Hey Gaurav,
Great thread. The detailed reviews at various stages have been fantastic. Recently booked the new Polo Highline (petrol) in ShadowBlue. Your thread has been extremely helpful in making the decision. Envy you for being able to travel to some absolutely stunning locations as well.
