hi cooldhaya, first of all congratulations on your new setup.

i am no ICE expert like ramie but i found quite a few things awkward in your setup.

I purely wanted subs for show-off purpose , so opted for 2 subs!! The thump effect is so good but as its placed in the boot
its hardly heard outside!!

infact if 2 subs are placed in the boot, it should be clearly audible outside.

I have to increase the volume to make the thump effect to be heard outside for a good few metres!! IMO don go for 2 subs!!

a single sub connected to a mono amp would have given you more thump buddy.

I came to know that the sound quality increases if a better HU is used!! Am having only a base HU from PIONEER with an aux-in port only!! So looking to change the HU in few months and enhance the sound quality!!

the first thing you should have done is change the HU. now change the HU & see the difference.

1.I have seen many cars with the thump effect heard for a long distance!! That is for instance when they are atleast 50m away itself!! How is this acheived?? Is it because my subs are placed in the boot they are not heard out louder??

i again repeat- placing subs in boot does not mean the sound wont be heard outside. infact all those cars, with the thump effect you are talking about, all of them will have their subs in the boot.

2. Will the sound quality and thump effect increase if i upgrade my HU to a better and new model??

definitely.

3.In some songs the woofer effect seems to be overshadowing the song itself!! i end up hearing only the thump effect sometimes . Any solutions for this??

that is because you have connected two 2 ch amps to the woofers & there is no amp powering the speakers. that is wrong. there is power to the subs but no power to the speakers!

I can spend some more but not now itself , I will be kicked outside my house!![lol!]

sadly, you have spent in the wrong way.

Hope what i have spent now doesn go waste and some tweaks can be done to the exsisting setup!!

of course, for starts you can install a good HU.
then next, connect a 2 ch amp to the front speakers. this way the thump wont overshadow your song. if you want better, install comps in the front.

lastly, this should have been your ideal setup:

2 ch amp for front speakers: 3000
mono amp for a sub: 9000
1 single sub in the boot: 6000
wiring: whatever remains

This HU was fitted in car my car while i bought it!! My dad din allow me to change it because its in perfect working condition!!

As his main need was 2 sub , i gave my best low possible combination.

yeah i was at a function when dhaya came . went there only when installations were in half way. though i have phoned and informed about the car to the store.

Any idea for hearing the thump outside like these cars when the boot is closed.
I mean in a 2 channel amp and a sub. Inside its so good but not outside.

Have installed like this in a omni and it sounded far as it had a open space.
Also we had fixed in an auto! Same effect.

I never told that there will be any problem with your amp.Can you give a cost breakup of the stuff installed

yes, your HU can be a problem. buy a good HU with 2/3 preouts.
then exchange one of your 2 ch amp with a 4 ch one. give 2 ch to the front speakers & bridge 2 ch to the sub.
but firstly, change the HU please.

but if you really want audible thump, after a good HU, you will need a mono amp for your sub.

yes, powerful amps will drain your battery if you play on full volume for too long, with your car switched off.

definitely, for the part marked in bold. changing the HU will not give you the extreme thump you are looking for but without that, you will never get what you need.

Raj has given the right solution, exchange it ASAP.But do some pretty good research while going for a 4 ch amp.I'll suggest the Blaupunkt GTA4 MKII, but wait for the ICE-gurus to comment.

If your light is dimming, then it is advised to go for a capacitor.
Again wait for comments from gurus.

the sound quality & thump will definitely increase but not to the extent you want.

Dude ! Go & change your HU. I dont know which model you have but Renegade said that the sub's volume cant be controlled from the HU so basically its useless.

(This would solve you problem to an extend,every song has different BASS thing due to which sometimes your BASS effect overshadows your song & sometimes you dont feel the thump.You CANT change the volume on amp each time while driving to get the BASS right.So change the HU & you could control only the BASS from the HU directly keeping the speaker volume as it is)

How can you expect all this from a headunit when the basic installations are not right??

If you don't mind spending money for a touchscreen headunit go ahead.
a normal one will only cost about 1/3 of the price of a dvd headunit.
You can't watch movies while you drive. i personally will never go for such a headunit.

Also he had mentioned its for show off.
He was not willing to change his head unit though.
And his budget was near 15 to 18K
So this was the good possible way that i can give.
