I m having 12 years old pulsar bike and want to do engine coating silver grey. But before applying new coating as we know the old coating has to be scratched out which i think is done by sand blasting. Here i want to ask whether sand blasting affects the strength of engine metal? Will it make metal weak?

I would not recommend sand blasting on a engine, if you engine block is made of AL there is higher risk of surface damage. Also, there is always a risk of sand getting into spots you do not want it to be in. There are other blasting media, but I think best option would be is to use a paint stripper.

You can do sand blasting, no issues, . but do it while block and head bolted to gear box.. Keep spark plugs and head cover placed.. Don't open engine..
