Re: Fuel Prices Reaching Sky High!!

Petrol price statistics in India

old one but i did get the latest structure
'"Suppose if the petrol price per litre in Chennai is Rs 51.90, here the break-up of cost calculated by the government:

  • Basic Price = Rs 21.93
  • Excise duty = Rs 14.35
  • Education Tax = Rs 0.43
  • Dealer commission = Rs 1.05
  • VAT = Rs 5.5
  • Crude Oil Custom duty = Rs 1.1
  • Petrol Custom = Rs 1.54
  • Transportation Charge = Rs 6.00
  • Total price = Rs 51.90
So for a Rs 22 litre petrol at pumps, consumers in India pay Rs 28 tax extra.[shock]"

Why is this so can we do anything to this endless hike....[anger]
why shouldn’t the government reduce tax on fuel

Last line is more of a wish than command. See why Govt. need to remove these taxes ? Just because "Aam Aadmi " is pareshan ?? See money you have more you will spend. Take a exam of comman wealth games. They had eaten so much money but that money would come from us in different directions. Moreover, if they start selling it at 100/-, what would you do ?

Unfortunately, nothing can be done about it or we have to sit on a hunger strike but there is no confirmation that we would get what we seek. We are not Mr. Hazare for God sake.

I think, we can bring our frustration out by shouting on them behind doors and nothing else.[frustration]

In the nearing future, low-cost hybrids could be the life saviour and people’s choice. But given that, manufacturers visualize this potential and produce them in India itself for the sake of affordable pricing.

Good News, Shell has dropped petrol price to INR 71.95/Ltr in Bangalore.
Normal petrol cost by other dealers is INR 71.10/ltr.

Diesel may be the way to go but only for the short term. Diesel prices will increase but not at the same rate as petrol. But in the long term - alternate fuels needs to be encouraged.

Re: Fuel Prices Reaching Sky High!!

Today diesel price was hiked by Rs 3. First we never really considered the mileage of a diesel car while buying it over a petrol as we knew its more efficient than petrol. Now even while buying a diesel car, people will start considering efficient ones rather than powerful ones.
