After making its global debut a few days back, Porsche has launched the third generation Panamera in India at a price of Rs 1.68 crore (ex-showroom). Available as a fully-imported model under the CBU route, bookings for the new Panamera are expected to start later this week.
Currently offered in a single variant, Porsche may bring more variants of its supersport sedan later. The new-gen Panamera gets subtle yet noticeable design upgrades over its predecessor. It also gets a host of engine options including hybrid and non-hybrid powertrains but as of now the India-spec model only gets a single non-hybrid unit.
The most significant update is the reworked front fascia featuring reprofiled bumper housing larger air vents. Also, the LED headlamps are now revised which look sharper. Side profile remains understated, with prominent shoulder line and a receding roofline. Highlights at the rear include sleek, wraparound LED taillights with connected by an LED light bar in between.
Inside the cabin, the 2024 Panamera gets a familiar layout with highlights including a full-HD 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment, a 12.6-inch digital instrument cluster, a new 3-spoke steering wheel, and a gear lever mounted on the steering column. The infotainment OS gets Porsche Communication Management (PCM) with Navigation, Mobile Phone Preparation, Audio Interface and Voice Control.
Other standard features include 8-way adjustable electric seats, and matrix LED headlights. There’s also an option for a 10.9-inch display on the passenger side. Other optional features include rear-axle steering, remote parking assist, and 14-speaker Bose surround sound system.
The India-spec Panamera gets only one engine option– a 2.9 litre twin-turbo V6 engine which pushes out 349 bhp and 500 Nm of torque, an increment of 20 bhp and 50 Nm over the outgoing model. This engine is mated to a 8-speed PDK automatic transmission which sends power to the rear wheels.
As for performance, the new Panamera can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 5.1 seconds with a claimed top speed of 272 kmph. Amplifying the car’s dynamic performance is semi-active air spring setup, and a two-way adaptive rear spoiler. Porsche is expected to launch the more powerful V8 Panamera in India at a later stage, although no hybrid variants will make it to our shores.
