Next Generation Maruti Suzuki Dzire Launched

Maruti Suzuki is planning a major overhaul of its bestsellers - Swift and Swift Dzire, in an altogether new avatar. In its new generation both Swift and Dzire will get an all new body and a new engine at the heart.

Apart from Swift, Dzire, Ertiga too will get a mid-cycle facelift with new engine options.

The new generations of the premium hatchback and compact sedan codenamed YSD are likely to hit the market in FY-18 with an annual potential of 4.5 lakh units.

Apart from getting a major makeover to its exterior, the Swift and Dzire will also get Suzuki's own 1.5 litre diesel engine (codenamed E15A) and the existing 1.3 litre diesel engine with its new affordable mild-hybrid technology.

These new generation models are developed keeping in mind the new regulations (crash, safety, emission norms) planned by the Indian government. The vehicles will get much lighter under the new architecture, thereby helping the company further improve fuel efficiency.

Better legroom
Good Sound system - It can be borrowed from Ciaz.
Additional boot space
SHVS - Sure to be included.
Lumbar support - Atleast for driver seat

More then these, Maruti should empazise on Good Design for the Dzire. Swift is good looking no doubt, but the Dzire is disproportionate. Hope Maruti addresses the Design first & then other things. If Maruti designs it well, i can see it selling 25-30k monthly.

Now they should think about using better sheet metal like in ciaz, SCross. Then they can put 1.5 or 1.6ltr in the hood.

Exactly !! Instead of making lighter cars for FE , they should think about strong body shell better than recently launched Scross and Ciaz. Would love to drive Dzire 320ddis though .But then excise duty won't be applicable above 1498cc then the top end will be priced little under 10 lakhs !!

Gen Next Swift - 2017

Here are the very first leaked images of the 4th Generation Swift. To go on sale in 2017.

New elements include hidden rear door handles, LED driving lights, and a floating roof look that’s achieved with the help of a black plastic sash on the D-pillar.
On the inside, the new Swift has a more appealing and upmarket look to it. Ahead of the driver, there’s a flat-bottomed steering wheel, while the instruments have an almost Alfa-esque design. In the centre there are rotary climate control dials, a large touchscreen infotainment display, and circular air vents.

Entry level Swift will have the 1.0L boosterjet (82kW/170Nm)petrol engine and the Swift Sport could get the 1.4L boosterjet engine (103kW/220Nm )

Also, the front seems to be what Ford is doing with their cars (Aston Martin inspired).

Exactly! It looks like the younger brother of the Baleno. The lines on the sides have disappeared to make way for Baleno-esque curves and the tail lights are an evolution of the Baleno's units. The front is kind-of a weird mix between Audi, Hyundai and some the Lancer Evo X! This is proof that the Suzuki designers can't do good designs anymore.
To me this looks like a mere face-lift (atleast on the outside). The interiors and that steering wheel design are a welcome change, but still, nothing as good as those of the upcoming Tata cars showcased at the expo.

The front end looks similar to the Renault Scala, while the side profile is identical to the current Swift with doors being identical. The bootlid is reminiscent of the Liva and the Tail Lamps are a mix between Old Swift (Side Reflector), Polo (Tail Light Cluster), Baleno (Shape).

Interiors are a mix of Suzuki Vitara & Ciaz. Nothing extraordinary in terms of design here, lets hope the actual car will be better.

I think current SWIFT does look great and performs very well.
According to me MS should think on investing money to implement on its safety features like ESP, Traction Control System, 6 Airbags, 4x4 variant [which is available in European Market already] rather than on new design tweaks.

So by 2017 they will be able to deliver segment first ESP car with 6 airbags at cheaper price. Although Polo GT TSI is a car with same features but the price tag is quite high.

The front looks r Ford,rear is of Datsun,the mid portion appears to b like the current swift...looking like a sports 'more' car though...

It looks more like the Renault version of Nissan's Micra the current gen Pulse.

looking at all the Maruti cars, these car have only one thing which is similar (Sales number) else look wise, there is no family look at all in any of the cars. Like the hyundai they have fluidic family, skodas look all the same, so do Volkswagen, Beemers looks similar. Tata with humanity line.

No such thing in suzuki apart from insane sales figures.

So basically the designers pick the designs which sell the best and apply on thier car. Wierd awkward shapes (to my eyes only) but great sales.
