Today, Ford Motor Company has officially revealed the All New Fiesta Sedan in India. The ceremony took place in Select City Walk, Saket and we have managed to extensively check out the car – result – here’s the initial impression of New Fiesta from The Automotive India.
The new Ford Fiesta looks just as exciting in real as you see in those photographs. Where the last few years have brought a stiff competition for hatchback market, the C-Segment has not been much behind either; consequently, automakers are forced to tense up their designing department because 21st century is the era where books are judged by their covers; similarly, cars are judged by their design too. And it is needless to say that New Fiesta does carry ‘that’ excitement in its design as a whole, no matters whichever angle you stare at it. The front especially is the best part where one would love having his photograph captured along but on gradually crawling towards behind, an unappealing puny boot welcomes you. Though it any day is leap ahead of old Fiesta (Now called Classic) but surprisingly I find it relatively much smaller in shape than one would expect to – this also answers why the boot space is not going to be the best in class. The demonstration car was also equipped with rear parking sensors, but it is yet to see whether Ford introduces them as standard because either ways – they will be definitely required since the car has superfluously elevated boot in order to add the character. Thanks to sharply inclined A-Pillars and C-Pillars, Big ORVMs (Indicator integrated), and raised windows lining, the side profile of New Ford Fiesta reflects most of the sportiness.
In fact, the bulky pull-type door handles offer confidence of an upmarket sports sedan; also, once you hold to shut the doors, they create a soft yet powerful thud sound. However, as soon as after entering inside the All New Fiesta – You’ll immediately be able to make out those goods and the bads. To pick out the bad ones first, it has to be the constricted space and lack of roominess as compared to previous Fiesta. That’s simply because this time Ford has concentrated largely upon the sporty character and list of features in this car, as opposed to typical family car where old Fiesta was targeted. The dashboard loads a lot of gadgetry and is too impressive to look at, with its mobile inspired centre console but some plastic quality bit disappoints, which also have noticeable panel gaps. (Gearbox console for example). Another worth mentioning minus is the rear seats; they are not only low on head room but leg room as well. On the other hand, Ford has equipped this car with some functional features - amongst which the best is ‘Voice Assist’. All you have to do is to ask the Fiesta and it will adjust the volume or set the air conditioning temperature for you. Moreover, Bluetooth along with it just works as a bonus. To wrap it up, Ford has a smart product in their hands which truly stands to full-fills the expectations of today’s working-class young man but for now – all the questions, answers and verdicts depends upon one and only ground – The Pricing. This is something Ford is careful about and keenly observing the competition. Guess, they are waiting for New Hyundai Verna release to accordingly plan ahead the strategies but we should expect falling it anywhere in the range of Rs.7 to 8 Lakhs. Now do take a quick glance on the engine specifications, features etc. of New Ford Fiesta 2011.
