Detailed Product review and Service experience will come up shortly.
Will wait for your service experience and review. Did you face any scraping issues with the new tyres? They look too close to the wheel well, but give an aggressive look to the car. The car looks as good as new. What about taping the B pillars?

And I am researching on new tyre pressures for your i10, will revert back on tyre inflator thread soon.

Hyundai I10 "Blue Boy" 31000 Service experience.

I reached the dealership at 9.30 and everyone was quick to attend. Its a small dealership at district place so everything is personal a friendly. I do not miss the professionalism and red-tapism the metros provide with regards to service experience. The owners of Dealership are good friends of mine so I always get attended on priority.
The overall Service experience was pleasant other than the billing system which takes 20 Mins Minimum to complete. The staff said its a standard Hyundai procedure.

Here are the discussions and solutions with regards to my car-
1> 30K is a major service which means ALL oils and fluids will be changed. This includes Engine oil,Brake oil, gearbox oil. All the Filters Like air filter, Fuel filter, Oil filter was changed. Engine coolant was changed as well. Brakes and other stuff was inspected. Engine and Gearbox additive was used (forgot to ask which), which are very expensive. There was usual engine tuning and stuff. The Engine has become very peppy and pickup has increased noticeably even with wider tyres now.

2> ABS light coming on-
ABS system was checked using a tablet to read the error codes. Wheel speed sensors were checked for all 4 wheels. The SVC suggested to change some ABS motor which costs 55k![frustration]. Skipped for now, Because I know the ABS light comes on if vehicle is parked for a long time (Week+) and goes away after a long trips.

3> AC cooling too much-
AC system was checked via thermostat which DID cut at 9.2.C. However I still do feel that AC does cool way too much which means i have to flip the switch manually On-OFF in few kms.

4> Heater not working-
Hyundai does not provide separate heating coils so we are at mercy of Engine temperature. When parked in Sun, which engine revved up and Temperature all the way up- we did register temperature of 38.C at the vents. The AC Should be in OUTSIDE MODE, AC switch OFF, Temperature towards RED.

Frankly the performance is inadequate for Hill stations and simply worthless in Near Zero conditions. The Outside air will be so cold that cabin will actually get colder even if Heater is ON.

Overall the SVC said this is by design and nothing can be done about it.
The above problems are probably due to lack of Climatronic AC.[anger]

On my XUV 500, one starts sweating profusely if anything like above is performed when parked in the sun.

5> Rear Power window not working- Power window switch had shorted out and was replaced costing about 400.

6> Gear leather which had crumpled was replaced.

7> Hatch hydraulic Lifters replaced for the cost of about 1.2k. Huge ergonomic benefit as the hatch used to fall down.

8> All the wiper blades replaced, Rear wiper being most expensive costing 700. Front wipers are 250 each.

9> Spark plugs replaced at Rs 300. Appears reasonable.

10> Tyres were replaced to Yokohama earth 1 in sizes 175/70/R13. Handling has improved considerably. A separate review will be posted for the same.

11> Glass buffing could not be completed due to Nightfall, Looking to complete in next visit. This will have to be done at other garages.

12> Reverse Horn not working- Rat had chewed the wires. Taped the same and Horn started working.

13> Bill of charges and labor-

Hello Friends,
Last week I upgraded my Hyundai i10 to Yokohama Earth 1, In the size 175/70 R13. As we know, Stock i10 tyres come in 155/80 Size which is seriously undersized even for a small car and does not provide enough grip on sandy/dusty inclines.

I went ahed to the tyre Shop and Inspected various tyres from Applo, Bridgestone, Michellin, Ceat, MRF and likes.

Buying Experience-
The Dealer was quick to suggest Michellins which I straight away Rejected. I've already burnt my fingers with Michellins. While they may be silent and last longer, The Michs are very Puncture prone and their grip in bad roads is not that great. They're 100% City/Good road tyres. My Requirements where a bit Indian Hearted tyres which were tough, Puncture and wear resistant and a little aggressive thread for broken roads and minor off-roads.

Next came the Brigestones. Even the dealership was adamant of Bridgestones saying that any other tyres will spoil the handling and comfort of car. I already had bridestones shod the vehicle, and while they were'nt bad, the grip wasnt great either. The tyres spun out when taking an incline in Sandy/dusty road. The tyres also have a tendancy to develops micro cracks over the years.

Everyone straight away steered me away from Ceats and Apollos as they're hard and noisy. In come the Yokos! I am impressed a Japanese company launching specially launching "Designed for India" Tyres for us!

I took a good look and they where'nt lying. The tread pattern is aggressive. There are 5 grip bands compared to 3 or 4 on competition. There is a also a constant contact ring around for better silence and High speed driving. I was instantly sold.

The Dealer said 175/70 is a natural company upgrade size as cars in Europe are shod with this size only. Sure enough, they did fit well on the factory rims, Although they now baloon out from the rims compared to 155/80.

Driving Experience-
1>What stunned me first was the Noise, Or lack of it. Stock Bridgestones used to Generate a loud hum in the 60~80 KMPH range and Unbearable sound after 100 Kmph (Had to Raise stereo volume for this). The Noise with the Yokos is simply ABSENT in 60~80 range.

2>The New tyres are more comfortable on Potholes and Broken roads. Going over speed breakers is More muted.

3>There is No fouling with the fenders even on Full turns with 2 people and moderate luggage on board. I will update further with 5 people and full luggage.

4> Other Good news is that the steering Feel is the same. I had imagined that steering will get harder due to wider rubber but fortunately It did'nt

5> Taking mild corners at 60 KMPH has become a breeze and car feel stable than ever. Body roll is well controlled and steering feel is very planted and weighted on highways.

6> The new tyres Nicely fill up the wheel arches and lend a more Complete, Butch look the car. Really liked it. Also the tread pattern is interesting and looks visually pleasing to the eye.

7> I shall update the thread accordingly, regarding Monsoon drives and High speed drives.

Pricing-
The Yokos are priced at 4350 a piece. Alignment was free but I had to shell out for Balancing which was charged 540 for 4 wheels.

Sirji if I am not wrong than this is the Asta (O) variant of that time. The top end of i10 1.1 and not the magna variant. I had exactly same variant with 1.2 Kappa (no sunroof in Kappa though) which I bought used and sold at a profit of 20k.

The 1.1 is a very tractable tall stroke engine. Ehh, I will take some time to go through pages. A lot of DIYs there.

Sir, Yes its actually the Limited edition specially advertised by Shah Rukh Khan. It comes with very nice Beige Interiors and All features to the boot. Even AC recirculation is Electronic button which now as been replaced with a lever. I am lucky to have such a top end vehicle and In good shape.
I had requested Mods to Change the title a month back. let me remind.[roll]

BTW, what do you mean by Tractable Engine?

I meant a very manageable engine. This is an engine whose power delivery is linear and you always get exactly what you ask it to deliver, no surprises at all.

OT: I never knew you are a part of married gang. I used to think of you as a single brother of ours.

Yes, I got tied 3 years ago. However I am Still a Brother of yours. I hope It doesn't change anything, or does it?

Yes I am aware of this VERY linear engine. However Overtaking performance is not as good, as there is no Surge of power. Or Perhaps I am all spoiled by the XUV.

You just need to use the pedal on left and the stick in the middle a bit, it isn't a mid range boosted turbo diesel after all.

Merry Xmas!
Yesteday, The Blue boy Carried us to Gujrat on a 250 Km Trip.
The overall drive was pleasant, and a few surprises too!

1> AC Heater Failed to work and i had to put with my Wife's complaints all along. I tried All possible Combinations and settings. The it wasn't heating one bit!. Suggestions welcome.

2> The drive came with a surprise, wait for it!
A new Top speed has been achieved![evil]

On the new parts on 4 Lane Highways, I managed to touch a top Whack of 153 Kmph!![evil]. Wife said she saw 160 on the speedo but I do not believe her.
So here it is- New top speed- 153 kmph on Speedo or 149 kmph as shown by GPS. Its amazing what this small boy could do. Overtook many Scorpios, Innovas, Skodas on the way.

3> We were 2 people with Full load of luggage as you people can see. Both the Hatch and rear bench was full.

4> I have nothing but Praises for Yokohama Earth 1s. Here is an update after 250KM Highway (2 lane and 4 lane driving)

Tyre noise at 110~130 Kmph- NIL! It has me stunned!
Tyre noise at 140+ Kmph- Negligible ( Hidden by loud buzz of engine)
Mild turns at 120 Kmph- Easy
Vehicle stability at 90~110 Kmph- Pretty good
Can be CRUISED at 110~130? - Yes!
Going over speed breakers - Good.
Wheel spin while accelerating in 1st or 2nd- None, Unless you're crazy.
Hitting small Pothole at Highway speeds- Reasonable. Vehicle kept calm and held line.

Vehicle stability at 140+ -Can be Improved. Yokos provide a floaty feeling on undulations and road joints which was absent on my earlier Bridgestones.

Braking at 90~120- Pretty good. Vehicle stops in a straight line without drama.

Braking at 140+- Not very good. Maybe the larger rolling Mass puts more stress on brakes and dulls the results. Brakes Felt linear but Stopping distances are Huge.

Steering Feel- Has stayed the same even with Tyre upgrade, be it highway or City drives. However I feel hyundai better had added a bit weight at 120+ for better highway stability. Can this be tuned, experts?

Hello Friends, I am suspecting a coolant leak on My Hyundai I10,

Today morning when the car was Getting washed, I saw a small puddle of Green coolant on the floor. My Natural Reaction was to pop the hood and Check any obivious leaks. However I found nothing by visual inspection. I need your help on this guys! Here are some bold points about the case-

1> Driver was washing the car with water when I saw the puddle. However only the external car was washed, Hood closed. I never wash car engine bays.

2> The car was serviced last month only and coolant was also changed. The details are in the Link above.

3> Found no leaks by visuals

4> The coolant level in Resiorvior tank was less. I added about 700ML of coolant to this tank. However, The coolant level in Radiator was way too full. Infact when I slowly opened the radiator cap, Small quality escaped from above.

5> The Car was NOT used in morning. I had merely reversed for cleaning.

6> The upper radiator hose was very hot , while the one that goes to bottom of Radiator was Room temperature. Does that mean coolant is not circulating?

7> Engine temperature after 10 Mins of Idling was about 20% on Gague. Which is normal to me. Its not overheating or anything.

8> Driver suggested that coolant spills could have happened during service, which then stuck to car underbody. The wash merely brought stuck coolant down. Seems logical however Engine bay is not washed.

9> For now I asked Driver to clean engine bay entirely and make dry of Coolant, so i can check more leaks.

Chime in Folks!

problem solved!
the Mechanic came in today and brought a
refurbished drain plug. it was really 2 min job to
replace it. it's a small plastic screw about 1cm
large.
we then put the vehicle on idle at various rpm to
check leaks. everything seems good!

the dealership sent one of their senior mechanics just to inspect and see if things are fine. he took an extensive test. including driving, idling and revving. they revved till.engine temp came uptown half the gauge. nothing leaked and fan function was normal. it appears fan starts only when temp is quite high.

meanwhile, I asked him to check why heater is not working. he spent a good hour fiddling and finding stuff under the dashboard. opened some gears and levers. finally he gave up and said the whole dashboard needs to be opened to check why heater won't work. I'm not comfortable at tearing the dash. any suggestions guys?

drove the blue boy after a long time.

I'm using new gearing style as suggested by our beloved singray91. I'm upshifting at 3~3.2krpm and down shifting at 2k.

earlier I used to upshift at 2~2.5krpm.
now the result is that drive has become peppy and responsive. the vehicle climbs to 100kmph very quickly. nothing other to report.

The Blue boy Clutch had become Hard & Sticky.
Hyundai SVC replaced Clutch Cable. Cable cost is 700. Total bill was 1000.

However clutch is not to my liking. There's Dead zone before clutch is actually activated. I mean first 2 inches pedal travel is really Light (like disconnected), Then clutch becomes suddenly heavy for next 2 inches (here is when clutch works). Any ideas folks?
