Long term update on Yokohama earth 1s

1. The tyres are holding up very well. Best part is no vibrations at all till 140 KMPH. Small vibrations do creep in at 145+. However I have no reason to believe that the vibes are mechanical or tyre related. The vibrations could be solely due to wind pressure.

2. Braking is fantastic. Even at 130+. City braking is actually too sharp. You have to be careful of close tailgaters. I guess thats the way i10 brakes are.

3. I am unable to notice any wheel spin when gunning in 1st or 2nd. Wheel spins were easy on Stock bridgestone B250s. However Yokos have really strong grip.

4. Tyres look fresh and new. No treadwear as noticed by the eye.

5. These tyres do not have any problems with stones in the tread. They are self cleaning.

6. The car is overall peppy and joyous to drive.

Remember how deep was the tread on your brand new tyres? Also, what would be the safe depth levels to replace them (in general)?

My GA Assurance always traps stones in their treads and I am not really removing them often. Wonder what impact it would have in the long run? [confused]

1. I did'nt measure the original tread depth.
"The legal limit for minimum depth of the tread on your tyres is 1.6 millimetres, across the central ¾ of the tread around the complete circumference of the tyre. For safety reasons it is recommended that you replace your tyres before the legal limit is reached."

2. If the stone has a sharp edge, it will dig deeper into the tyre and eventually puncture/ Ruin it. Its suggested to remove stones when cleaning/ maintaining the car. I often have to remind my chauffeur to do that.[cry]

Thanks! This limit is for UK. I won't be surprised if we don't have a legal limit for this.

Thanks again [:)]

The i10 has A quality CD player for the Music that supports MP3s.
So I dug up my CD collection and located this Moser CD-RW. Apparently these are made is 2005 and are sealed pack. Burned some fav tracks and it works like a charm.

Blasting some tunes now.[clap]

Noting Major to report.
However, the i10 is having a "Clang" sound from front suspension when going over larger potholes or Undulations in roads. This is not present when taking speed breakers carefully. Only on sudden jolts. Any pointers friends?

I got the blue boy checked at Hyundai ASC yesterday.
Here are the findings-

1. This looks like a 2 day job as entire front suspension needs to be checked.
2. EPS has a grease box somehwere. This grease box needs to be checked and steering rack also needs to be opened. Charges are 3k which does not include EPS motor.
3. Susp Linkages if Gone cost 2K per PIECE
4. Front shocks are either bad or bent.

So job is scheduled next week with time frame in view.

Entire front susp job costs 17k. Never knew i10 had such heavy maintenance. Sigh.

I got the Insurance renewed.
3350 For TP insurance.
As Many of us might or Not know, TP insurance is just for compliance. There is no own benefit. The IDV came to be about 80k, Which did not make sense for Comprehensive insurance so Agent suggested TP.

Maharashtra is Generally more expensive than other states.
There are NO add on Covers for this. Death insurance for Owner, paid driver and occupants was available for 600Rs + Tax Extra. That would've pushed totals to 4K Plus.

Guys the central locking of i10 has developed a peculiar confusion. This happens regardless of using remote or using manual levers.

When I lock the car, in 2~3 seconds the car unlocks automatically. Also, The indicators which used to come on during lock are not coming on.
I've already tried spraying generous amount of WD-40 in these locations-
Door locks
Door levers (Lock lever)'
Remote push button.
Keyhole
Door hinges

I've also checked the individual door position sensors (Black spring like things) and they seem to be fine as Dome light turns off when all doors are closed. The Bonnet does not seem to have such position sensor.

Any Ideas guys?
