Alright. Yes it is better to get the alignment and balancing done ouside. But again wheel alignment should have been covered in the AMC. Surprising its not! Alrite if you do get a chance while collecting your car please do ask the VW guys if AMC offer is available for Polo diesel also. I am really interested in getting it.
They say align/bal in not included in amc. Sure I will ask about diesel amc. Off to get my cat back now.

Minor paint touch-ups and rubbing is free irrespective of amc. Spoke to the guys and they said that coolant is chargeable. All labor, engine oil, filter etc components are free under amc. Regarding wheel alignment and balancing, I am planning to get it done from outside as they are quoting around 900 bucks for it!!
I will go to a good tyre shop and get all alignment/roration done soon.
I am getting the car back today only.
Better get it in writing.
Afaik nobody would provide consumables like oil and filter FOC .it is bit risky for them as people will take it for granted .hope you get it.

I have got my car back from servicing. The total bill was 5.5k (approx) and since I had A.M.C, I had to pay ZERO amount. The car has become butter smooth- gears, steering, clutch, everything is smooth as day 1. It feels in mint condition.

@Jayadev: the amc that I got clearly mentions engine oil as a component including others. I am posting a snap of amc coverage today evening. Your idea of people taking engine oil for granted is logical one, and I think you are right there. Still engine oil as a free component is a relief considering vw recommends synthetic oil.

@GM88: I asked a senior guy from workshop about amc on diesel on which he mentioned that there is ntohing of that sort on diesel. Only extended warranty can be purchased, but no scheme as such to bring down the cost of servicing on diesels. He gfeels that in future too, probability of amc on diesel is almost zero. So, you may have to continue with current high service bills.

Took a quick round of showroom to see the new models on display. A polo CL and vento HL were on display. Following is my observation:

New Polo CL: a new design for wheel covers, 15 inch tyres, ablackish fibre like thing in place of chrome affect as seen in highline.

New vento HL: blackened head lamps-Looks okayish, new garmin navi system, bluetooth, new alloys.

Took a few snaps and will upload soon.

And of course, a detailed review of my journey with polo till 15k.

Good to know that your Polo is back in her mint condition. service bill also seems to be on the lower side but good you dint have to pay a penny.

too bad that VW is still not providing AMC to diesel owners.[frustration] I was hoping they would have.

5.5k is a reasonable amount. Not too much!
But for the diesel, its quite high! [anger]

And are you sure that minor touch-ups are free? Then I have a lot to do.

Yes they are free, I have got it done twice from workshop if I remember correctly. Probably just a goodwill gesture, otherwise it may be chargeable as per dealer's wish.

The front headlights are available only on highline for polo and vento. They look decent. I saw them in rather dim lights of the workshop, but think they would look better on roads in daylight.
Now the highline model makes a lot more sense since its cheaper than before and offers safety features too.

If budget becomes a constraint, comfortline would also be a good choice.

Polo alloys are different - right ?
Yes you're right, now we can differenciate highline by new lights as previously highline can be identified via rear wiper & front fog & remote locking , now these features are coming in comfortline.
Thanks buddy !

Yes the alloys in picture were of vento. Polo has got even better alloys than before I think. I am visiting the dealer again tomorrow to check if highline polo has arrived.

First Service update at 15000 kms

As I have earlier posted, I got my polo serviced at 15000kms a few days back. I have AMC and I had to pay nothing for an on-paper bill of 5.5k approx. The car is running smooth and fine,.

From 0 to 15000 kms, following are my experiences:

Issues: Only one issue of tak tak noise front passenger seats during initial days. It was corrected by workshop within no time. Since then, no noise from seats. Another stance of tak tak noise from glove box, again corrected completely.

Apart from this no issues at all. I mean NIL. Zilch in German.

Repairs/Accidents: One repair of lock brake carrier (that black thing below the bonnet which broke by a parking guy's mistake). Cost: 3.5k, did not give it as accident.

A dent on rear bumper caused by smart scooty guy who couldn't stop it on time but performed a disappearing act before I could figure out what happened. Cost: 3.6k approx, covered under insurance, paid around 500 bucks.

It’s been fairly a routine ride with my polo for past 10 months, home-office home, and sometimes I feel sorry for not taking her to long trips and not giving her proper doze of highway runs. Even in these mundane days, everytime I get behind the wheel it’s a fresh feeling, either in the morning or after office. Sometimes, I feel so anxious to get out of boring office and hit the road with my polo.

Likes and dislikes:
I would say in words of others. Over the time I have received comments from those who have had experience with my car in some or the other way, they are:
- Very nice ride, which car is this? (the very first comment which I remember vividly, given by my office seniors when we were four in the car)
- Solid (everybody says that)
- Planted and pointed, tends to be in straight line, AC is chiller (said a friend who kept my car for a day)
- Comfortable ride (office colleagues say that)
- Smooth (Dad says, after experiences of Wagon R)
- Sir your car’s paint is always shining (A VW workshop guy said that)

Of course some negative comments too:
- Makes too much of sound (friends always say)
- Where is USB plug? Where is dashboard cooler? Are these A/C knobs or gas knobs? (Friends again)
- Where is the vanity mirror? (Wife of course)
- Is it diesel? (office parking guy said initially)
- Moves like a diesel car in first gear (a colleague)

I agree to all the above comments that I have got till now. Surprisingly, I never heard anything from back passengers about the space, even after asking they say they are comfortable and alright. Fair enough.

Now, something that only I have experienced thoroughly- Performance:
I have gotten used to the way it behaves in first and second gear such that I can now get the best of it. From my experiences over these months, I consider polo petrol to be a wonderful all rounder. The light steering and zero turbo lag for cities coupled with stability, stiffer steering feel, and stiff suspensions for highways make it a great all rounder, in contrast to polo being only known as a highway star.

I can tell you that I initially when I used to take her to highways, I would go crazy and do all kinds of zig zag and darting between other vehicles. I am sure others would have found me a spoilt brat out of my mind under influence of something really toxic. I couldn't help but admire its capability to perform at higher speeds, revv happy nature and that engine note. Basically, my definition of a small car was something like - an affordable, car like thing, manufactured for a common man's commute, designed for city, and scary at high speeds. I never thought something without boot (barring SUVs) is a car, I thought its just a solution or an arrangement for a sedan. Now, I am happy that my myths were only myths not the truth.

(Ahh forgot to mention- those looking for 'rpm', '0-100 in x secs' sort of ownership language, I haven't learnt it yet. I need some more time)

As noob as I may sound, but yes I had very few expectations from a hatch and I thought this so called German thing would just be like another small car. Thankfully, its way ahead than one can guess.

The connection: I love the way these machines connect with us in spite of having no soul literally. Driving this car is fun, an indulgence, so much so that one who is driving this car would think about the car most of the times. The one behind the wheel would admire how it just negotiated the pothole, how it took over that vehicle behind, how would it perform if I split between these two cars ahead me, should I speed up more, and more. I have driven over 15000 kms, and till today I can't help to get over the feeling of being connected with the car.

I have believed that a machine like a stereo does have a 'soul'. Now I believe a car also has a soul.

Cars are beautiful too:

Wow! Thats a nice update on completing 15k kms with your Polo. I must compliment your Polo still looks as if you got the delivery yesterday itself. Kudos!![clap]

Its a true German hatch. Solidly built inside out. Good to know that you didn't encounter any serious niggles in your car. My Polo is close to getting around 6 months old now and i haven't faced a single niggle as yet. Not even any sweaking or kur-kur noise from any part of the car.

Likes and Dislikes which you have mentioned from other peoples prospective is spot-on.
Its a solidly built car , no doubt about it. AC is an absolute chiller and the whole cabin is simple yet elegant and classy looking. On the outside its a looker from any angle you see it. No weird lines running anywhere and everything is in place where you want it to be. Just perfect in the looks department. Engine noise is surely on the higher side as compared to what other manufacturers are offering. But the drivability and ride of the Polo covers up for everything else. Its so smooth and plush and i specially love the butter smooth steering wheel.

Yes every Polo owner here seems to have a connection with the car which in a way is nice. Its just so want to make you indulge in it and drive it even more and more. :stupid:

Thanks for strengthening my beliefs, GM88.
I would be coming with more experiences to highlight more characteristics of the car- both positive and negatives.
I wish to keep my polo forever with me. Lots of good times and memories already in the making you see.
