Mahindra, one of India’s biggest SUV manufacturers, has just revealed the name of its latest addition to the SUV lineup. The upcoming SUV from Mahindra will be called 3XO (pronounced as XUV-three-ex-oh). Not only have they revealed the name, but they have also shared a teaser video that gives us a glimpse of the upcoming SUV. The SUV will be officially revealed to the world on April 29.
The upcoming Mahindra 3XO, or the Mahindra XUV300 facelift, has been spotted testing several times. While the SUV is expected to be a facelift of the XUV300, the design of the SUV looks different from the current version. In the teaser video shared by Mahindra, we get a glimpse of the perforated leatherette upholstery, soft-touch material on the dashboard, a new floating-type touchscreen infotainment system, alloy wheels, and headlamps.
We also get a glimpse of the tail lamps on the upcoming SUV. The SUV looks similar to the test mules that have been spotted on our roads. The exterior design of the XUV300 is completely different from the current version. It comes with a redesigned front fascia. From the teaser video, it is clear that the XUV 3XO comes with vertically stacked projector headlamps with a drop-down design for the LED DRLs.
Just next to that, we see a gloss black panel with jewel-like grooves in it. The video also reveals a Mustard yellow shade that will be offered with the upcoming SUV. The Mahindra XUV 3XO will get a dual-tone alloy wheel with the new Mahindra logo in the center.
The side profile of the SUV is expected to remain the same in terms of design. We expect to see roof rails and blacked-out pillars and cladding, which would add a muscular look to the SUV.
At the rear, the Mahindra XUV 3XO will get a completely redesigned LED tail lamp setup. The gloss black elements on the wraparound tail lamps can be seen in the video. The tail lamps have an LED bar that runs across the tailgate, and there are vertically stacked turn indicators and other lights in the cluster. When compared to the outgoing model, the XUV 3XO is expected to come with a premium design both for the exterior and interior.
The interior, in fact, is expected to look the same as we saw in Mahindra’s XUV400 EL Pro EV. We expect Mahindra to offer premium features as the sub-4-meter segment is highly competitive. There are also rumors that Mahindra might offer ADAS features like Venue and Sonet. Will it get these features or not? We’ll have to wait for a couple more weeks to know.
As this is a facelift, the upcoming XUV 3XO is expected to be powered by the same engine options as the XUV300. The SUV will come with two turbo petrol engine options and a diesel engine. There will be a 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine that generates 110 PS and 200 Nm of peak torque. This engine is available with 6-speed manual and AMT gearbox options.
Next is the Turbo variant, which comes with a 1.2-liter Turbo petrol engine that generates 131 PS and 230 Nm of peak torque. This variant is available with a manual gearbox only. The third is a 1.5-liter turbocharged diesel engine option that generates 115 PS and 300 Nm of peak torque. It is also available with a manual and AMT gearbox option. The upcoming XUV 3XO will compete with cars like Maruti Brezza, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, and Tata Nexon in the segment.
