This is the story of the year 2019.. took so long for me to post an ownership experience !!
The buying decision: It all started so suddenly when my 8+-year-old Suzuki Ritz LDI clutch started hurting me multiple times in dense traffic(Maybe I am aged or my Ritz clutch). I tried to hold with the same car for one more year at least till March'2020 when BS-6 vehicles will be lined up completely. BUT
was not able to bear the pain when I took a painful bumper-to-bumper drive in traffic for 3hrs. Then the search started for a replacement and many thoughts should go with an automatic or a manual with a lighter clutch set up, dilemma of petrol or diesel, budget decisions, etc., . Hours spent reading reviews and watching videos online and made up my mind to take TD of shortlisted cars.
I ruled out the hatchbacks and Sedans completely for the seating position I wanted and also my Ritz seating position pushed me towards a CSUV/Crossover selection. The Budget decided was around 12Lakhs on-road max. Now the search begins...
Short-listed cars & Test Drive :
Creta diesel: Everything was good, but felt the clutch a bit harder side
Ford Ecosport diesel: Good drivability and ample power, but felt a bit claustrophobic
Honda WRV diesel: I know I came back to a hatchback again but it felt very spacious, the drive was good, and ticked more boxes to me than others. But was in a dilemma that it never looked like an upgrade from Ritz, but somehow made up my mind and booked a white diesel WRV, BUT the story turned suddenly, just before couple of days to take delivery, a friend pushed me to check Kia Seltos which was just launched.
Kia Seltos: One test drive of a diesel MT changed my decision and felt like the car I was looking for which ticked all the boxes for me, straight away booked and went back and canceled the Honda WRV booking.
Buying Experience: -
Since it was just launched, the delivery timelines were around 3-4 months. The booking was made for the Base version HTE diesel MT which had only two colors, white and silver. Booked silver but somehow managed to get a RED color within 30 days.
Experience summary after 5 years: -
It's been a fantastic driving experience with the car, completed 75000 km on ODO now.
The Engine is excellent and the torque is great. The braking is awesome with four disk brakes in place.
Did many long trips of 1000-2000km without any kind of fatigue
The clutch is light, steering is easy, and lighter weigh up according to the speeds
Suspension is on the harder side, the only Con I felt in this car is it will be uncomfortable bit while on bad roads and speed breakers. The pro side of it is planted on highway drives
Most of the time mileage figures are around 21-23 kmpl during highway drives and 17-18 in city drives. so satisfied with it
Overall completely satisfied with it and happy driving it every time. The only downside is its safety rating
Changed stock good-year tires at 20000 km when a tire got cut badly. Then installed Bridgestone B390 ran for 50000km, recently changed to Bridgestone Turanza 6i
Posting a few photographs taken right from its delivery. Will keep updating this thread regularly. If anyone has any clarification inputs feel free to post your queries
