Kawasaki has finally launched its much anticipated Ninja ZX-6R in India. The lethal track weapon is priced at Rs 11.09 lakh and comes to the country as a fully-imported model under the CBU route. Deliveries for the sports bikes are expected to start by the end of January 2024.
Showcased earlier at the latest edition of the India Bike Week (IBW), the Ninja ZX-6R is available in a single fully-loaded trim and can be had in two colour options– Lime Green and Metallic Graphite Gray. Interestingly, the previous generation of Ninja ZX-6R was on sale in India briefly before being discontinued.
The 2024 Ninja ZX-6R takes styling inspiration from its flagship sibling— Ninja ZX-10R. It retains Kawasaki’s signature supersport styling with a revised twin LED headlamp setup, a redesigned cowl, and a new windshield. This lends a sharper appearance to the fully-faired sports bike. Other visual highlights include split seats, a floating tail section, a muscular fuel tank, and an upswept dual-barrel exhaust canister.
The Ninja ZX-6R comes equipped with new 4.3-inch fully-digital TFT colour instrumentation with smartphone connectivity via Kawasaki’s Rideology App, full LED illumination, three riding modes: Sport, Road, and Rain; an additional Rider (manual) mode. The instrument cluster provides information such as navigation data, vehicle logs, etc. Safety net is provided by Kawasaki’s switchable traction control which comes in three modes.
It is based on a pressed-aluminium perimeter frame and a two-piece sub-frame made of aluminium die-cast piece. This setup is suspended on 41mm upside down front Showa Big Piston forks and a rear Showa mono-shock. The bike rolls on alloy wheels wrapped with Pirelli Diablo Rosso™ IV tyres.
Powering the Ninja ZX-6R is a 636cc liquid-cooled in-line four-cylinder DOHC engine which is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. This motor dishes out 122.3 bhp and 69 Nm of peak torque. Power output can be boosted up to 127 bhp, for a short duration courtesy of a RAM air intake. Gear shifts have been made smooth courtesy of slip and assist clutch and a bi-directional quickshifter.
