Inspired by Iron Rock, I recently came across and bought this Montero on OLX. It is quite a beast. Still getting used to it. Will post updates here. Currently sorting out minor niggles. I bought this from Chandigarh, and will do an interstate transfer.

My approach was to initially send my trusted mechanic to check out the car. I test drove this idea by asking this mechanic to test drive a Pune Montero. He came back with glowing reviews and later when I saw the vehicle for myself the only glow was my ears glowing red at realizing how much time had been wasted.

I then flew down to Chandigarh, and did only one test - whether the car could do 0-100 in 10s (Iron Rock had told me his Montero could do it). It did. I paid, got 5 new tyres Michelin LTX Trail (same as in my Pajero AT) and drove back. It was a superb drive in cold weather. The car seemed to rocket to 140 as soon as i thought of it, and I had to fight to stay under the speed limits lest the seller should get my speeding tickets. But I sneaked in 2-3 instances just so I could validate my purchase. It is a 2011 model, and has done less than 100k KMs.

I do my prayers everyday (making sure I touch 100+ and 0-100 in less than 11s) for my peace of mind. I believe in healthy and mindful living.

I have kept my PS Automatic stock. This car I want to try a few minor mods, like a music system to start with. It has a Rockford Acoustic Design system, but one which is largely dysfunctional, so I am replacing it with a Blaupunkt 900 DAB 9" carplay and Android system. I got interiors cleaned up by 3M.

I got the Blaupunkt DAB 900 9" system with Android Auto and Apple Car Play installed. The stock Rockford Acoustic Design 6CD changer wasnt working. The new system has 2 USB outs which have been taken into the glovebox. I have a large number of 16-44 CD rips which I have copied into a memory stick and used on these USB ports, and the sound reproduction is top class.
I also noticed wobbling creep in at 100khpm itself, so got the front two tyres rebalanced again, and wobbling is gone. While the seller had his own garage, and had done wheel alignment and balancing since I went in for new tyres, I had thought it would hold for some time. But when I got wheel alignment also done yesterday, I saw that had also gone off kilter. Now everything is set. I will get the rear wheels balanced also, and then recheck only after 5000km.
Everything is smooth as silk.

Did radiator flush including cleanup of coolant tank. I drained out the old coolant as much as possible, poured in Liqui Moly flush, topped up with distilled water, ran the engine for 15min, disconnected return pipe to radiator, plugged that radiator outlet, poured around 15 litres of distilled water, and towards teh end mostly it was water that was coming, and then i poured in 12 litres of Amsoil Antifreeze + Coolant, and towards the end of this phase some coolant (light yellow) did start coming, though I am sure a bit of water did remain in the system. All this while engine kept running. FInally I closed everything up. Smooth as silk till now. I will check tomorrow and top up if required.

Hi, so I'm new to this place. I basically ended up here while i was in my focused hunt for a montero. I got interested in montero when i was searching for a pajero sfx. At that time, all 2nd gen monteros(4th gen pajero-international market) were being sold in used Market for 15L above. I felt it's a bit high for a car with no service support. Now I'm in the search again as they are getting listed for below 9L(which will leave me some room to import parts without burning a hole in my pants). I'm trying to make it as my uniq vehicle with some tasteful mods, nothing serious. I don't wanna ruin it's stock setup. So if anyone has one which they are willing to sell, I'm interested. Preferably black or grey. Thank you.
