The third-generation i10 has received its mid-life refresh and Hyundai has set about giving it an exterior makeover, but also some new technology for 2023.
We’ve recently seen rivals in the city car segment dwindle with the Peugeot 108 and its Citroen C1 being axed, along with the Vauxhall Viva, Renault Twingo and Skoda Citigo. The i10 is still going strong however, with Hyundai stating this update features “comfort elements, and technologies that are usually only seen in higher segments.”
Hyundai also says the new i10 has a sportier stance with the facelift. Exterior tweaks are fairly minimal with reshaped LED headlights front and rear, a new grille insert and fresh 15-inch alloy wheels. Pick the i10 N Line range-topper and you’ll get bespoke bumpers front and rear with red accent throughout and N Line-specific 16-inch alloy wheels plus bespoke front fog lights. Two new exterior colours have been added with Lumen Grey and Meta Blue - combined with a black two-tone roof.
The interior receives new blue mood lighting, a ‘Purple Package’ which offers tartan fabric seats with stitching and air vent surrounds finished in purple. The N Line version gains red-coloured seats and red accents on the dash.
Technology has been upgraded with the facelifted i10 with standard-fit 4.2-inch LCD driver’s display, a USB port in the front and rear plus the ability to receive over-the-air updates for the eight-inch touchscreen. The i10 also gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wireless smartphone connectivity.
Although pricing hasn’t been revealed for the i10 facelift, we expect it’ll remain as one of the cheapest cars on sale in the UK. This doesn’t mean it skimps on safety, though, because there’s Collision-avoidance assist, Lane Following Assist and Rear Occupant Alert all included as standard.
Hyundai hasn’t divulged powertrain specs either, but the current selection is unlikely to be messed around with. Under the bonnet we expect to see a 66bhp 1.0-litre three-cylinder, an 83bhp 1.2-litre MPi four-cylinder and a 99bhp turbocharged three-cylinder.
