Dear Friends,

I have completed 9 K kilometers on my grand. The mileage with the AC on(summer in NCR is harsh) has fallen to 12 km/litre from 15 km/l which I used to get in the winter months(without AC). It is also being driven by a chauffer who does not engage the 5th gear too often unless the stretch is fairly empty. I used to shift to overdrive the moment the speedo needle touched 60km/hr and about 1.5 on the tacho. This could be an additional reason for the drop in the FE. I am also due for the second service. I have the petrol version and I hope that the service cost does not go beyond INR 1500. Guys can you tell me what all will be done in the second service, anything to watch out for.

Another issue is that in the 1st and 2nd gear I can hear a faint whining sound, which goes away as the car pulls into 3rd and beyond. I was wondering if that is because of the air filter, which I am sure needs to be changed by now.

All in all a happy grand customer thus far.

Congratulations Nik! It looks amazing! [:D]

I'll be picking up my car in a few hours. Will start an ownership thread soon after. [:D]
Thanks! Want to see your experience after using the car. For me, I find it very good and ticks all the right boxes on what all expectations I had. Especially for a jump from Maruti to Hyundai.

So I took the delivery of the car yesterday as promised by Advaith Hyundai, so props to them for sticking to their timeline. I took along a friend of mine who's well experienced with cars, and he made sure everything was good. The guy at the showroom walked me through all the features and do's & don'ts of the car, even though it was just to cover the bases as I had read almost everything about it here. [:D] Signed the paperwork fairly quickly and was greeted by the staff to fanfare and sweets, which I must say made me feel nice. I rated my experience with them 10/10.

I drove the car for a bit after that, and I loved it a lot until I actually got onto a trafficy road. Since I'm still a newbie, I have a tendency to stick to the left, which turned out bad cos a bus came too close and scraped some of the paint off of the right ORVM corner. It's hardly noticeable, so I'm not too worried about it. I've already prepared myself for a bunch of scratches and dents, so it's OK. After that incident, I lt my friend drive just to be safe, and also to get his opinion on the car, and he just loved it! He said the car was smooth and a real pleasure to drive and control. He drives a Swift, so it felt great to know that.

After that, I drove it around my neighbourhood, and I love the car too. I'm gonna have to practice with it to get a hang of it, but I'm sure when it's just a matter of time. I'm getting used to the sharp brakes, so my initial fears no longer exist, although I do end up jerking the car due to sudden braking once in a while.

Here are some pics from yesterday. You can see the Hyundai leather seat covers in some of them. They look and feel great, although they only say "i10" on it. Not sure if that's a good thing or bad, as I would've liked to see "Grand i10" instead. Can't complain, as they're free. [:D]

EDIT: As for the experience, I'm liking it so far. After adjusting the seat and steering wheel, I feel very comfortable driving it. I love all the little features and luxuries and I'm happy for what I paid for.

Congrats Ankur. :D As far as the Asta variant is concerned, it is possible to unscrew the antenna. I'm not sure about Magna, so I suggest you call your dealer/sales rep and check with him. If not, I'm sure there's something about removing the antenna in the user manual too(it's funny how we never think about it).

Brilliant! BTW which Advaith did you go to? They surely do make you feel special when you're buying a car from them. That's a wonderful color on your car too. Initially I also choose the same color but then decided on golden orange because it looked too good!

Dissappointing to hear that your new car was scratched in the first day it self. Well it's Bangalore traffic, you can't do anything about it.

Even I found the brakes a bit too sensitive initially but then I've gotten used to it.

I went to the one in Residency Road after a friend recommended it. I even mentioned why earlier.

I knew that getting scratches was inevitable, so I'm not disappointed. Besides, it's nowhere close to being an eye-catching scratch/dent, so it's OK.

What do you think about the turning radius? Can you pull off U-turns easily on this?

Yeah! Compared to my SX4 this is a breeze. I can make U turns quite easily. Planning to add some LED lights to it.
