Hi thanks for addressing me,normal idling is at around 1000 and its smooth,no problem, when i go over a bumper,if i am in third gear and when i break, the car starts to vibrate and lugging, after few dhak dhaks i have to press clutch and change gear to 2nd then i get going.I bought this car reading that it got excellent drivability,i just serviced recently, changed oil, filter etc.
just saw,the idle rpm is around 850,and whenever i break the car the rpm comes down below 1000 and problem starts. Can we increase the idle rpm above 1000 so that I can avoid all the lugging and shuddering.

Hello sampadenator

I agree with you. This engine has got good drivabilty at city speeds, is devoid of turbo lag like the Figo Diesel, but I think you are taking it to the extreme. Crossing a speed breaker at 3rd gear (assuming a speed of 10-15 kmph) will certainly stall the engine. Any car of this segment would need half-clutching or a downshift. Remember that it has less torque than other 4 cyl diesel engines, so you will not be maintaining speeds as effortlessly as them. You will not be able to crawl very effectively due to low torque. During my short TD, I found the torque to be just enough to get going from a standstill. To crawl effectively, slight A-pedal input was needed.

I think it would be better to compare with other Grand i10s or take your car to Hyundai ASS since you mentioned that it was more uncomfortable than your Polo 1.2 TDI, which was infamous for its turbo lag. Is there any unusual sound from the turbo or engine while accelerating? That could hint to a bigger issue.

EDIT : 850 idle RPM is fine. About adjusting it, I have no idea and I think 1100 RPM would be unnecessarily high. Experts please pitch in, I have no long term experience with diesel engines.

Regards,
Alpha

I agree with alpha. Your can't expect the car to move effortlessly in 3rd gear after crossing a speed breaker. Make it a habit to downshift in this car. The amaze diesel is the best in this regard. I don't remember in which or what speed I was at bit I was pleasantly surprised when the car moved effortlessly at those speed.

Anyways don't increase the engine rpm. It will only cause more Fuel consumption , faster wear of parts and unnecessary high noise.

Drive this car for a year and two and if your budget permits buy the figo diesel. You will think of lowering the rpm in that car [evil] you will have to press the clutch to decrease the car speed and will be ready to take off as soon as you remove your foot.

Congrats buddy.

Check the VIN to confirm the manufacturing details. Perform a thorough PDI before sending the car for RTO formalities. You will find dedicated threads for both these topics on this forum itself, perform a search.

Sure I would do that , I also want to know if I change the default headlight would it void any warranty ?
I was using used alto upto now so , I had changed it to a bosch 100w headlight without thinking about warranty getting void . I asked the dealer but they said they don't have high power lights.

In the initial /warranty period whatever you do with electrical, do make sure you get it done at HASS. Otherwise they will always have chance to make your warranty void.

I don't think warranty will get void. I also have the relay and 100 w bulb. Everything is plug and play, no wire cutting. Only the plastic cover behind the head light assembly will be cut to insert the ceramic bulb holder inside the light housing.

Just confirm that your car is having extended warranty by simply calling Hyundai customer care. If it is registered under extended warranty then don't worry about document. Even I got my document on second service.
