Fluidic Verna CRDi SX 1.6 - 2013 model ownership review

Hi everybody.

Booked my Crystal white Fluidic Verna CRDi SX 1.6 on 18th of January 2013 with Chandra Hyundai, Coimbatore. SA promised to deliver within a month. Got a call on 28th Jan. The SA said "Sir unga vandi vandhuruchchu" (Sir your vehicle has come).

The next day I completed the formalities with my bank (SBI) and got the car loan approved in 21 hrs.

On 30th Jan I gave the DDs to the dealer and asked them to register on 1st Feb as that was the next available auspicious day. I also told them that I will be there by 5pm the same day for taking delivery of the car.

Everything went smooth and took delivery before 6pm and drove to a nearby Vinayagar temple and drove straight back home.

Yes Nick, I too thought it would take atleast 3 weeks. But as Hyundai has increased production of Verna and i20 by 50% since August 2012 I think I got it soon. I took test drive of petrol Verna in June 2011 itself, by that time the waiting was 4 to 6 months for diesel models.

I was also very careful about the year of production. The dealer might give a 2012 model. So I checked the VIN and the 10th digit was D which meant it was produced in 2013. I also got the exact date, it was 24th Jan 2013.

So far Ive driven 111 kms (of which 15 was by Hyundai and the dealer) and got three "Thuds'" from the front suspension. Some time feels like a car running with not so well balanced wheels, mild wobbling, yeah the boat.

Driving is breeze and love it. Only afraid of the thuds. Now I've learnt where I will get thuds and where not. I will drive very slowly or try to steer away from the thud type pits and bumps.

Seems to be a very good car in respect of looks, interiors, VFM - you name it, only let down by the suspension. So I'm researching about fitting spring pads, strut brace etc. I'm a sporty driver. I mean I'm used to drive fast most of the time. I've even participated in a few Rallys (both 4 wheeler and two wheeler) before I got married.

So far I would have driven nearly 4 lakh kilometeres in various cars starting with Ambassador, Jeep, Contessa classic, Alto, Fiesta, another Alto.

The power delivery is very good, one of the best I've driven. But it is said "Power is nothing - without control". So may I suggest all Verna lovers concentrate on this issue, to try to do something to fix this problem and bring a Fiesta like handling for Verna. Those who have driven the Fiesta (now Classic) would definitely understand what I mean.

Sit inside the Fiesta and hold the steering and even before starting off you will feel confident and in total control. Drive it and you will feel that it (the car) is an extension of you. every car should be like that.

So as car lovers and especially Verna lovers we can do something about this thru this forum. And every body reading this pls contribute with ideas, tips, knowledge or whatever you have in mind to improve the HANDLING and RIDE QUALITY of our sweeeeeeeeet Vernas (Looks like a Lambo and sways like a jumbo).

Congratulations thirun,

Price here is 11,60,482. Nothing more, nothing less. I did not even negotiate, I called the SA to my home gave him the booking amount on 18th Jan and also test drove Elantra that I had asked them to bring.

No there seems to be no change. Its the same as last year's.

Thanks thirun for the prompt feedback and pic. How do you feel about the back seat? It is said to have low back seat. Post more pics specifically interiors. Did you check out any other brands? or just fixed for Verna? You seamed have liked Fiesta(Classic), did you check out new global fiesta? I have this car in my list too so these questions..Thanks again

how was the handling of the elantra? were considering selling the verna by year end or so. Power of the car is extremely good but sometimes the quality puts me of especially the bumper and rattles here and there and the 20 times ive been to the service centre to get issues sorted.

I checked the global Fiesta sometime last year. Did not even ask for a test drive after seeing the price. It was over priced by as much as 1.5 lakhs. Poor Ford, killed a good car by its pricing. Still they have not learnt a lesson. I used to think that some other car company is paying the top brass of Ford India.

Duster is doing well. Ford should price Ecosport lower than Duster and aim for high volumes. I personally feel they will kill Ecosport too with its price. Ok I'm off topic and hence stop here.

I'm 6' tall and sitting in the back seat is no problem for me. So far I have sat when the car is parked. I have not let anybody drive it, so I can tell you about the full back seat experience only after I let somebody else drive it. I don't think I'm going to let someone else drive it in the near future[:D]

Elantra felt better than Verna. But I drove only around 8 km that too during traffic and hence could not answer confidently.

Re: Hyundai Fluidic Verna Road Test Review

I had plans to fit LED scuff plates but Nick's famous conversation with the accessory guy (warranty void sir) and the troubles he had with his car is making me hesitant to go for something that would void the warranty. But I would definitely do some thing to improve handling by fixing strut brace or similar items.

Hi...I have recently purchased Fludic Verna 1.4 crdi. Awesome machine....so far I touched 9000 km and is giving me mileage of ~23 (70% Highway + 30% City).

I want to upgrade/install some accessories. Could experts please suggest me?

Also, Is it possible to install front armrest?

Thanks in advance
