I am planning to travel from Channai to Murudeshwar temple in the month of May 2017.
I need your suggestions.
1. The roads are 4 lane roads or combination of 4 & 2 lane roads?
2. Travelling time? Google map says around 16 hours.
3. Good hotels for accommodation are there near Murudeshwar?
4. Month of May is the good time to visit there? Climate condition?
Thanks in advance.
1. Onward can be via this route
Chennai - Bangalore (Electronic City) - NICE Road - Tumkur Road Exit - Tumkur - Davanagere - Haveri - Sirsi - Kumta - Honnavar - Murudeshwar. 4 lane highways all the way till Haveri. Post that it is a combination of 2-lane / narrow 2 lane carriageways. But road conditions are good all the way.
Return via
Murudeshwar - Honnavar - Talaguppe - Sagar - Shimoga - Arsikere - Tiptur - Tumkur - NICE Road - Electronic City exit - Hosur - Chennai. Honnavar - Sagar is a single lane carriageway, some bad sections too. Beware of the unmarked speedbreakers. Sagar to Shimoga is a 2-lane national highway. Post Shimoga, excellent roads.
2. You have to budget between 14 - 17 hrs including all breaks. Hope your family is used to longish drives. Else you can break at Tumkur.
3. You can try RNS. Heard good reviews about it.
4. Occassional showers, but sultry & sunny all the way. More than you like. But if you are from Chennai, it mustn't be that different anyway.
NOTE for your onward trip to Bypass Bangalore: DO NOT GET ON THE ELECTRONIC CITY EXPRESSWAY. Go down the normal route to Bangalore. After a few kms (to your left), you will see a NICE Road exit, not so well marked. Very important, missing this step (or getting on the electronic city expressway) will eat up at-least an hour or two easily into your drive times.
