Completed 86000 Kms today after an airport trip.Still 4000 Kms for 90K Kms service and this will decide whether we should sell off this car or not.Thinking for an SUV this time for its presence on road.Maybe an XUV or Creta this time.Told my father to have a look at Auto transmission this time.

Brake pads and rotors changed

Yesterday,I was hearing a grinding noise from brakes and today,I got the brake pads and rotors changed and guess what happened, sound has gone. The second set of brake pads had run more than 55000 Kms in 2 years.Bill was ₹7567.The breakup is ₹1800 for brake pads and around ₹4500 for rotors.Overall,a happy VW customer.Had given to them at around 5pm and work got done by 5:30pm.And,got to know that my uncle is working as body shop manager at the same dealership and he is willing to get our car painted at VW itself. What a nice gesture.I personally have good experiences with VW people and rated them best. This made me to think about getting another VW,i.e Polo or another Vento again.

Rajiv sir-Due to the presence of my uncle, who works as body shop manager in the showroom and due to my previous good experiences with VW people,I got it changed within half an hour.

Btw,my car had went to hometown to bring my grandmother from there.Did 165.5 Kms up and down.

Odo-86294 Kms after today's run.

Btw,planning to get our car refurbished by getting fresh coat of paint from VW dealer through my uncle.

If you actually intend to sell this car post 90K Kms then I would suggest there is no point in spending on the paint. It would not increase the cost rather the next owner would come to know that the car has been re-painted and will give you a lesser value. So just let it stay as it is in my view.

Still in the mind whether Vento should go or not.Instead buying a second alternative car seems to be good option than replacing Vento.Vento is still strong after doing more than 86000 Kms.Still there is no scope in selling this car as the performance is still strong and still touches the speed of 130+ Kmph. This made my mind after reading the thread called Your car-Keep,swap or retain in other forum.Personally,I had seen many Vento's in A.S.S doing more than 1,20,000+ Kms and recently saw a 4 year old Vento in the same A.S.S doing 1,12,000+ Kms and my dad's friends, who has Superb 2011,which has run 94000 Kms and about to complete 5 this year and another friend's Octavia doing more than 1,50,000+ Kms in 10 years. One more friend, who, has Jag XF,Fortuner, still has his old Octavia at home. But,resale is one of the biggest problem with German cars. Not that I hate this car, after major accident in Aug 2015 made me to hate this car.The best thing is wait for a while and get a new one which is bigger than Vento. My dad is already planning to retain Vento and buy an XUV or Innova for himself.Did 73000 Kms in almost 3 years with this car.

Btw,planning to get the EGR valve cleaned. How much does VW A.S.S charge on this?I feel FE got down that's why planning to get that cleaned.

And,how to increase the resale value of the car with necessary mods?

Btw,today our car again went to my hometown for some work.

Re-sale Value of the car is not increased as such if you plan the mods which don't hamper the warranty like wraps, tints and chrome. To some extent you might get some premium on re-sale if you work on mods like engine-remap, suspension and top-of-the-line branded alloys etc. And to further simplify your dilemma of selling or retaining your car, I would suggest, if you are the sole decision maker then simply think on 2 aspects i.e do you want to see this car for long in your parking or you are adamant to sell it irrespective of what's its strength is in present date! Your decision is pending for long only because you are very confused and bound by restrictions of family. If you are convinced that your car still has a lot of life left in it then forget about replacing it for now.

Buddy please do let me know the steps you have taken for doing the activation. And please do give a small report. If all goes well and sounds good then I can consider one for mine as well. My Vento has the RCD310 music system.

Mine is same with RCD 310. Will prepare step by step instructions how to install it and how to activate it so that it will be useful to others. Waiting for delivery seller has yet to ship the order and it will take around month to reach me. Meanwhile I have to look for someone in Pune who has VCDS.

Hi music swift, in my suggestion I would recommend you to retain you vw Vento till it loses his strength because I had a maruti ZEN LX 2001 model California gold. It did 89,000Km in 13 years, and till I sold it I didn't had any feelings about that but after selling it I really missed it and realised its value and how big mistake I have done. For a new car I would suggest you Toyota Innova, Renault duster, hyundai creta, MAHINDRA xuv 5oo and maruti s- cross, think twice to thrice before selling your car.

Thanks for the inputs Doc.Well, keeping Vento seems to be a good option but as she is nearing 90,000 Kms,no one will buy this car as the resale of VW cars are poor.Btw,we are also in same boat whether buy an SUV as a second car as my family is increasing or buy a Rapid DSG as a second car keeping my Vento.

Btw,completing 87000 Kms today.Did 1000 Kms in 10 days since my last update. Thanks to travelling due to some work, she did highway trip last weekend of about 380 Kms and got about 19-20 Kmpl of FE.

Still,3000 Kms for 90,000 Kms service.

I see if the later resale value is your problem its better to sell but i think the engine has life for more than 1,50,000km so just think about it. if you are retaining the vento better don't go for another german product rather go for another brand, and go MPV or SUV Because you already had a hatch and a sedan so better go for a MPV or SUV.

Thanks for the inputs doc. Here is the update. My dad had driven Creta that belongs to his friend, who still owns an Innova and a decade old Santro. The version he drove is SX 1.6 base and he got floored with its performance.I was shocked that how he became lover of Creta from hater of same.Yes,he hated Creta due to its small size but one ride changed his mind. This seems to be a perfect replacement for our Vento. But,waiting period in Hyderabad is 3 months as of today.I feel that my dad had enjoyed driving Creta 1.6 CRDI after driving Vento 1.6 TDI for almost 3 years.

I think 1.6 CRDI will replace 1.6 TDI soon.Will wait and see.If it's Creta,will go for AT or SX(O).

Sorry for going OT.
