45000 Km service and issues!

Gave my Hound for 3rd service today.Odo reading is 46273 Km.Now,I'm facing 3 issues:

1.2nd gear is not getting engaged properly.
2.Clutch totally gone and going for clutch overhaul
3.Some abnormal noises coming from front left door

Clutch overhaul costed me Rs.60,000,which is way expensive. The SA said,if flywheel is in good condition,he will give me a discount of Rs.20,000.Total estimation-Rs.74,000 including general service.

Now,after facing this shock,I felt Innova is too cheaper to maintain than Vento. Now,I have two minds whether to sell or not.Sell this car and get Honda City VX Diesel or Innova or XUV500 or retain it and get a new car as a company for Vento.Which option is better?

Is your car bill is multiplied by the value of Euro or what?

Do you own a Merc or Jag,
my God 74k for clutch overhaul and general service, I can buy a used santro or Alto in that amount. See you have two options now
First ask them to repair the clutch not overhaul and sell it
If you want to go for overhaul or may it is mandatory than use your car for the next 30000 kms and than try to sell it around 70000 kms mark or so.

But these cars are damn so costly to maintain, thank God I have chosen Tata and Hyundai over these sh*t companies.

re: Beige Hound-VW Vento TDI- EDIT-2 years complete

VW spares are indeed very costly and more so if you buy from VASS. You can also refer experience of our member sandykudva

Today's update as per SA-He said, clutch overhauling is done and general service will start by tomorrow. He said, flywheel got rust and changed the flywheel too.

Tornado-Yeah you are right.Europeans are expensive to maintain. When I said about this to my friend,he said, you could get a new vehicle with down payment on that money. And,was told to sell this car and get Honda City Diesel.BTW,his 2010 Verna SX CRDi Auto transmission is also giving problems like power steering dynamo problems, sounds coming from engine and AC not working properly. He is also planning to sell this car and get a new Honda City Diesel replacing his Verna, which has done 63000 Km in 4 years.BTW,my heart says not to sell this car and get some necessary mods and my mind says to get Honda City Diesel or Verna Diesel replacing Vento. But,I still prefer Vento over City Diesel and Verna due to its torque, build quality and highway stability.Engine wise,I felt Honda City is not a good upgrade from Vento TDI.Maybe,we are used to Vento's raw power on highways. The only thing where City beats Vento are Honda reliability, space, cheaper maintenance costs.Where Vento beats City is build quality,1.6 TDI,interior quality and VW badge. So,we may not sell Vento in near future. Was planning to get denting and painting with general service, but due to clutch overhaul,we have to extend it for few days.BTW,our ride for a day in Bangalore last month ago was Honda City Diesel.

Anshuman-Yes.I have read the Sandykudva's experience on his Polo.I felt so sorry about this.

I felt instead of selling Vento, getting an alternative diesel or petrol car as a company for Vento with low maintenance and high reliability makes sense.I think Auto transmission vehicle seems to be a sensible as an alternative car. So,in the end,I'm thinking that heart will win over mind.As of now,I'm looking at used Civic AT as an alternative. Our running is more or less whereas Vento does about 50-80 Km a day and trips to hometown leads to 2500-3000 Km per month.

Sorry for going OT guys.

Even newly launched City has its own share of Honda Gremlins like Kat Kat sound in shockers, belt is noisy and a cars whole clutch assembly was changed under warranty. so welcome Honda, if you do a mass production be ready for gremlins.

Clutch overhauling and service done!

Finally, got my car serviced. But,yet to get the car.Final repair bill is Rs.68,600.Clutch overhauling costed me Rs.56,000 and servicing costed me Rs.12,500.Reason for clutch failure on my vehicle is my driver. He always put his foot on clutch. We and other family members warned him seriously that you should not put your foot on clutch. My brother is not a sedate driver and he always rev the engine till 3000 RPM.BTW,this car is highly abused by us.It is mostly driven by driver and dad.Rarely, mom and some other people use the car.

I dont understand why people have the habit of riding on clutch. Even quite experienced drivers also do same.

@Music_Swift:- looks like the VW people are fooling you. the bill of 68k is way too much, i understand that the Germans are heavy on maintenance but this is too much. Just check what all they have changed. Because when i had given my Polo for work in the ASS that time i had inquired the clutch assembly price out there with labor it was 15k so considering it a vento max should be 25-30k so check out. I remember getting my skoda octavia clutch assembly changed and that too the ASS had quoted me 35k which i got it done from out for 23k. So if your car aint in warranty its time you move out of ASS and find a good local mechanic.

No offence but a far cheaper option would be to enroll in a good driving school and learn to drive. Obviously if your clutch is gone so soon, you're not driving properly. It could also be that the clutch quality was bad but the reason is more likely the former.

Reddy sahab, who does the dealing with the service centre - you/driver/father or someone else?

Sandy-I also know about VW maintenance. But,the reason for failure of clutch is my driver. He always rides the clutch. We got irritated and told him not to put the foot on clutch.BTW,my car is out of warranty and the car is highly abused by my driver, dad and mom.Rarely, some of the cousins use the car. And,I have to change the flywheel, which costed me Rs.25,000.Labor costs is Rs.10,000.Servicing costed me Rs.12,500 and I have to change the bearing as it was giving some noises.

SD-I and my driver dealt with ASS this time as my father was out of station.

Peter-One of the reason for clutch failure is my driver.

Will post the bill soon.BTW,Vento has done more than 200 Km after service and noises got vanished after fixing new bearing.EDIT-Posted the bill.

Comparo between 2012 Vento and 2014 Vento

Had a chance to compare between 2012 Vento and 2014 Vento today.

The changes in 2014 Vento are:
RCD320 with Bluetooth
Clutch is too lighter than 2012 Vento, which we own presently
No more double horns since Nov 2013.This new one sounds like poop-poop,which I didn't like it
Build quality is slightly better than 2012 Vento

Other than that, all are same.2014 Vento was owned by my dad's friend, who bought the car last Thursday for Rs.11.2L.He upgraded his Swift VDI new version, which has done about 35,000 Km and sold it due to lack of toughness. He suffered much accidents with this car and got fed up with this car and sold it off an year ago.He had considered Honda City IDTEC,VW Vento TDI and Skoda Rapid TDI.He didn't consider Verna due to bad suspension and build quality is not good as his Skoda Octavia and he didn't consider Rapid because he has a Skoda and he felt Vento is much better than Rapid. Now,the battle was between City and Vento. He removed City from the list due to lack of power. Now,Vento won the battle. He drove our Vento and felt better. The only issues he faced is harder clutch and 2nd gear issue. He owns Skoda Octavia Rider 2006 in Black colour, which is still good after 1,50,000 Km in 8 years.

What I like in 2014 Vento:
Lighter clutch
RCD320 with Bluetooth
Blackened Headlights
Build quality

What I didn't like in 2014 Vento:
Single horn.2012 Vento takes the cake in this department
Alloy wheels.Again,2012 Vento takes the cake

Other than that,2014 Vento takes the cake in other departments.

We are satisfied with Vento?Yes,we are satisfied with Vento.

And,had a 100 Km ride from home today by my dad, dad's friends, who own 2014 Vento and another person, who own Superb,BMW 530D and Swift Dzire ZDI.

48500 Km review!

Opening this thread after a long time because I was busy in joining in new college.Hound has done 48500 Km and about to touch 50K Km in few days and after service, she has done about 2200 Km in a month with a trip to Vijayawada done by my cousin and has done 600+ Km in a day. Now,the running has reduced bit due to usage of the car by mom and since my dad's hand got fractured on Monday,he took rest for 3 days and today went out after 3 days of rest. But,on Tuesday, the car was mostly used by us with driver and did about 90 Km inside City.Michelins have completed 5000 Km of driving in City and highways.Im planning to get GTI cluster for Vento. But,lack of funds, have to wait for it.

49500 Km and just 500 Km for 50,000 Km!!

Updating after long time.Lack of time made me not to update about the car. Now,Vento has done 49500 Km,which is almost near of about 500 Km for half century a.k.a 50,000 Km.She is running like a brand new car without any issues. On Monday, dad has done 150 Km on highways and some running in City.Michelin P3ST tyres are running smooth without any issues.Till now, they have done 6000 Km in 3 months. We have done 36500 Km in 1 year 5 months 15 days and 49500 Km in 2 years 3 months 18 days. Will be completing 50,000 Km by this week or next week, depends on our usage.
