BMW has launched the new i5 in India, priced at Rs 1.19 crore, ex-showroom. The all-electric BMW i5 will be sold in a single M60 xDrive variant and will be brought in via the CBU route. With the launch of the i5, the German carmaker now has five EVs in its portfolio, and the i5 sits between the i4 and the i7 flagship.

BMW i5 M60 xDrive: Design
The i5, being in the sporty M60 xDrive guise, is sportier than the standard model. It gets sporty bumpers, an illuminated Kidney Grile, 20-inch wheels, adaptive headlights, flared side skirts, and red callipers. The car gets flush door handles, vertically stacked DRLs, and a rear design similar to the 7 Series, with thin tail lamps.

The interior of the i5 gets a leather-wrapped steering wheel, ventilated seats, carbon fibre trim on the dash, seats finished in Alcantara or Venganza, a dark roof lining, a panoramic sunroof, four-zone climate control, 360-degree camera, and more.

Coming to the infotainment part, the new i5 gets a 14.9-inch infotainment system with gaming and video functions, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, smartphone connectivity, navigation, and a Bowers & Wilkins audio system amongst others.

BMW i5 M60 xDrive: Battery specification and range
Powering the new BMW i5 M60 xDrive is an 81.2kWh battery pack that powers all four wheels. The electric motors make a combined power of 600bhp and 795Nm of torque, while BMW claims a top speed of 230 kmph and a range of 516 km. The battery pack can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in 30 minutes with a 205kW DC charger.
