Speaking about the sketches, Skoda says, “The sketch shows a wide dashboard arranged on several levels, which echoes the symmetrical contours of the ŠKODA grille in the centre. The colour orange, which inspires vitality and creativity, is used extensively throughout the interior, for example, on the centre armrest and door panels. The chrome-plated ventilation nozzles on the side are also eye-catching, with fine ventilation louvres spanning almost the entire width of the instrument panel.

Late last month, Skoda teased its all-new SUV for the Indian market (in the form of Vision IN concept), with some sketches of the interiors. Now, we can confirm that the Czech carmaker will reveal the Vision IN concept in its entirety on February 3, ahead of its public debut at the 2020 Auto Expo on February 7 (the concept will also be on display on the media days, on February 5-6).

What we know so far about Skoda’s new midsize SUV is that it will be based on the India-specific MQB A0 IN platform and (the concept) measures in at 4.26m in length. We also know that the production-spec version of the SUV will have a wheelbase measuring 2,651mm, providing ample space for rear seat occupants.

On the inside, the Vision IN concept will feature a layered and minimalist dashboard design, with a large free-standing touchscreen infotainment system dominating the layout. Also part of the package will be a Virtual Cockpit (digital instrument cluster), a flat-bottom three-spoke steering wheel with steering mounted controls, a small gear selector in the central console, and a unique ‘crystalline element’ positioned in the middle of the dashboard.

Skoda’s Vision IN SUV revealed

Skoda has just revealed the Vision IN concept SUV, which is based on the Skoda Kamiq. The Vision IN concept is expected to be put into production sometime later this year, and will be the brand’s most affordable SUV. It will challenge the Kia Seltos and the Hyundai Creta in the compact SUV segment. Expect prices to start from Rs. 10 lakh. It’ll be a petrol-only SUV, and will be available with both manual and automatic gearboxes. Here are some pictures straight from the unveil.

From up front, the Skoda Vision IN looks quite butch and muscular, and the grille is the biggest standout element. Other butch bits include edgy bumpers and cladding. The wheels are 21 inch units on the concept, but the production version is likely to have much smaller 16 inch wheels. The sides of the Vision IN also get cladding that goes around to the rear bumper, and the rising window line gives the SUV a very purposeful stance.

While the concept gets a 1.5 liter TSI turbo petrol engine with a 150 PS output, the production version will get a much smaller, 1.0 liter-3 cylinder TSI turbo petrol engine with about 115 Bhp-200 Nm. Skoda seems to be taking a torque heavy route with the new turbo petrol engine, which will also be offered in the Rapid. Two gearbox options are likely: a 6 speed manual and a 7 speed DSG twin clutch automatic.
