Flash Back:
  1. 45 years ago, one of my 2nd uncles was brought to my village, as his jaundice was in an advanced condition. that was the first ever time I saw my Grandpa's worried face. Unclewas given herbal medicine at my village for three days. He recovered FULLY.
  2. 40 years ago, my Sister was down with Jaundice. Same herbal medicine for 3 days, and she recovered.
  3. 6 years ago, I was down with Jaundice in 2008-09. Living in Bangalore, went to Hospital and was given Allopathy medicines. A week went by, but, no improvement. My eyes were pure yellow. The father of a colleague, came to home, with a Herbal Plant. He told me how to take the medicine. I took the first shot by 6PM. Yellow colored eyes became normal color, by morning.
  4. Last year when I went to meet a friend in Delhi, he was on leave. Same Jaundice. I prescribed the medicine and course. Other friends collected the plant from our Ghaziabad Factory. The friend recovered in 3 days flat.

The Herbal Plant:
  • Tamil Name : Keezha Nelli
  • Malayalam Name : Keezha Nelli
  • Kannada Name : Nela Nelli
  • Telugu Name : Nela Usiri
  • Botanical Name : Phyllanthus Niruri
  • Ayurveda : Bhumyamalaki
  • Hindi Name : Bhumy Amla

Pictures:
It is a small plant. I have seen it growing in many places in TN, Kerala, KA, Delhi, UP, MP, etc. The following pictures will help you identify it:

A 52mm Lens cap is kept for size reference. The Cap diameter may be 55-58 mm, may be.

The next pic was taken with the Macro mode enabled in the Camera.

Recently, when I went to home town, I saw these growing in our garden and took these shots, using my OM Zuiko 50mm f/1.8 Macro lens. See what all details a dedicated Macro lens can bring out !!!

I had never seen the "white color flower" of this plant till I used the Macro lens.

BTW, all the pictures above were resized for webview and are NOT cropped images. Just to give an idea on "how close a Macro Lens can go near the object". Some more pictures from internet are here:

Info on the web:
The following links throw more light on this tiny plant:

How to use ?
  • Take 15-20 branches (with leaves and the seeds). No need for the entire plant.
  • Clean them in clear water.
  • Use home made butter milk. Ensure butter is NO MORE in butter milk.
  • Pour about 150 ml of it in the medium sized jar of mixie
  • Add the cleaned Plant.
  • Use the mixie in stir mode and ensure the plant is grounded fine.
  • No need to add water. Add little more Butter milk if needed.
  • First course can be taken anytime in the day.
  • 2nd onwards, prepare the medicine fresh (NO no no, no storing in fridge) drink it on empty stomach in the morning.
  • Take it twice a day for 3 days. I continued to EAT the plant raw for about a week. It is perfectly safe to munch every now and then. They grow plenty inside our Factory in Bangalore. I pick them, clean and just munch, every now and then.
