De-Carbonizing of Engine

Hi Friends,

As you all know I own a Maruti 800, clocked 85000 kms.

I heard some where that de carbonising will help to improve performance.

It will make the engine smother. Whats the procedure behind this, should I change the engine oil along this ?. Will the fuel pump/lines cleaned ?
I have seen some blackish formation on the valves of my car, will this also cleaned.

They are quoting me 1250+tax in a MASS,can I go and get it done.
Need your valuable suggestions. :

get it done outside the ASS. 3m decarbonising kit costs somewhere around 1000/-, it will be enough to use 2 times. the mech may take 100-150/- fo get it done

decarbonising will help to clean the lines to some extent. get the head opened and clean it manually . it will put put you back by 2000/- but it will get the job done

Should need to remove the existing fuel lines and connect it to an other source to get this done ?

yeah. the existing fuel lines need to be connected to the decarbonising liquid & run the car for 2-3 min & a thick black cloud of smoke will be exhausted.

I also got the Decarbonising of the engine done in my Maruti Alto LXI. The cost was something around 1000 bucks. The total bill wasRs.5500 (Paid service).
Yes, I am feeling power input I give with my right leg! The car easily does 130 kmph, Which it earlier used to cry for! Rest, I have not felt any other thing in the car!

Decarbonisation:

When our fuel mixes with air and combust in our engine, it deposits carbon too. It keeps increasing after with your engine running. This deposit can cause engine to loose power and fuel efficient can come down marginally. Decarbonization process removes the carbon deposited on our combustion chamber, which will bring back our engine performance (by bringing back the original displacement 'CC;) and slight increase in fuel economy.

Duration:
Decarbonization in petrol engine is suggested for all new cars which has done 20K Kms or completed 2 years.

Service centers offer decarbonisation as a value added service in 20000 km. As far as I know, it is desirable but not essential in modern cars in that intervel. Decarbonisation may be required only after 50000 km.

i have few questions to ask

1. Is it decarbonisation intervel is differnt for the differnt engines? i e petrol/diesel ? or it could vary according to engine size(CC)
2. is it engine oil additives or the engine flush could really help to reduce the carbon build up in engine?
3. how is the service centers doing decarbonisation? are they manually opening the engine or using the engine flush liquid only?

I have got it done on my car, it is an engine flush.

They remove the fuel line and connect a small tank (1 liter) which contains a liquid they start the car keep it idle till the liquid lasts. I could find some white smoke from the exhaust.

Frankly speaking it dint make any difference in performance or FE.
I had got this done for the first time (at 80k kms). Cost 1200rs.

Sir, how it could decarbonize engine? you mean, due to the high acceleration or by the continuous running , carbon deposits either mixed up in the engine oil or go through the exhaust smoke?

Continuous running at speed tends to heat up and remove the deposits. I remember as a student after pottering around town for a couple of weeks in the UK in my Escort 1300, whenever I went on the Motorway the car would hiccup once or twice and then open out. I was told that this was the coke being burnt out.

I have never decoked any of my engines, max. run 68,000km.

Decarbonization only happens if the fuel quality is not that much good otherwise not required to some extent.
castol magnatec is a fantastic oil though very costly. but if fuel quality is bad and if you are feeling the lack of punch decarb is the best solution.

and if you want to keep the carbon out of your engine its recommended that you do a decarb every 20 k kms.

well here's a different answers given to me by MASS , the SA said that the piston and cylinder gaps are filled with carbon deposits and since my car has done nearly 50k kms it is not advisable to have engine decarbonization and engine flush done on my car.

Decarbonization by liquid seems to be the most common method of removing carbon deposits.

For some reason it seems not be so effective.

Recently there is wind of a new method in which Gas is injected.. heard about it from a friend.

Anyone know of such a method?
