Hi All,

I thought of upgrading few OEMs for my i10.

1) Horn

2) Theft Alarm

3) Light Upgrade from 55/60 to 100/110

Mission 1 - Accomplished

Just installed New Generation Trumpet Horn from Hella.

http://www.hella.co.in/products_aftermarket.asp?mode=detail&pid=58

Sounds great & very powerful Horn.

It sounds similar to most Skoda Cars [:D]

Mission 2

planning to install Theft Alarm for my car!

Any brands & pricing ??

Mission 3

Still having a doubt whether to upgrade my lights or not!

When checked with my Hyundai Service they said it will void my warranty!

Can you share your experience ?

Has any one upgraded it on a new car ?

Zinam,
For Anti-Theft Alarm, I suggest you the Autocop, Its a good and reputed brand.
Not sure about the headlamp upgrade but why don't you try the Xenons? They very much improve the visibility, Also makes your car look nice at night.
I would like to hear the sound of your i10's new horn, Try to upload it on net for us! [:)]

hi zinam, i have similar horns in my scorpio by Roots.

2) Theft Alarm
you have many options- nippon, autocop, xenos etc.

3) Light Upgrade from 55/60 to 100/110
i would say- AVOID THIS. car manufacturers choose bulbs of this capacity with a reason- in interests of safety.

higher wattage bulbs would harass other road users more (by blinding on coming traffic) & would be of no good to you.

as vibhor said, its okay if you go for xenons BUT xenons are good for city use only. they are better then halogens in the city as their visibility over a SHORT range is more. but out on the highway, halogens are better as they have a better & more powerful throw compared to xenons.

Thanks vibhor for your inputs!

Yes. I even planned for Xenons, its good for shorter visibility, but longer visibiity is not that good as Halogens!

For car security go for autocop , the basic model cost 3200/-
Higher end model so called will have same unit with different period of warrenty and different designed remote!

100\90 is the standard upgrade that people do. As many use them , 55/60 becomes helpless in road.
Accept that warrenty will be void (a reason for them, it draws more current)

the head lamp lens(cover) will be dull in 3 to 4 yrs.

Nice honkers Zinam![thumbsup]
About the lights, not a big issue mate, just go for them if you want to. Renegade is sporting 90/100 's and the Maruti guy never suspected a thing. If you are so keen about the warranty just revert to stock before you go to the service station.

I'm using 100/90 without any issues for about 2 years. Service people never gonna check the wattage of the bulb [:D]. They don't even check whether you lights are working or not.

If changing bulb can void warranty, then fitting even stereo or anything additional that draws more than permitted current can void warranty.

Your Hella horns are 6 Amps while the OEM ones are only 4 Amps [:D].

I couldn't manage to drive with OEM as it is too poor for Highway driving!

I feel even a two wheelie is better :)

OEM bulbs are of no use IMO. They say it'll void warranty. If that's the case, even after market music system voids warranty. I didn't face any warranty problem with Logan and even have changed bulbs there. But still they offered us extended warranty, after expiry of base warranty.

How much those hella horns cost?

What do u actually mean when u say Theft Alarm?
I've been using piranha for almost 4 years now. It is actually a brand subsidy of Autocop. Theft alarm, if it means door opening alarms, stereo protection and impact sensors, then it is all in here.
But i think u are talking about gear shifter locks, or steering locks. In that case many brands autocop included. Try going to shops and check them out.
Or u can try advanced theft alarms such as
http://www.commandoalarms.com/itm30032.htm
Or

I am just talking about the body impact sensors :)

Most probably i will be installing Piranha tomo.

Because Autocop is Manufactured by a company called Key Stone.

Even Piranha, Terminator, Scorpio & lot of products are also manufactured by same Key Stone.

So thought not of damaging the exisiting wire in my car.

Planned to go with Piranha!

Didnt u get body impact sensors with the central locking from pirahna??
Strange, even the most basic models have dem, or did piranha start selling only remote central locking systems??[confused]
And do u get actually get only body impact sensors as a single package??

Hmmm to explain clearly, I got the Basic Piranha system (Remote Locking only) from Hyundai as offer.

Now i am planning to add Body Impact Sensors to it.

When checked out with few guys in car accessory shop they told, since i am using Piranha, they suggested me to add the piranha kit with body impact as they need not remove wires completely again.

Actually there are no extra kits. They will remove the original unit & add the new one with body impact ! [cheers]
