Modifications Needed For Drifting

Hello Guys.

I was hoping that someone could help me out.
After watching the movie tokyo drift i have gone completely into drifting you people also must have tried it, but the last time i tried to drift i just missed an autorickshaw ,it was in the rain at the coastal when i started to drift an auto was turning when he saw my car coming he stopped the auto i still remember his face but i luckly missed the auto and ran over the footpath,after that i decided to do some mods that would increase the stability of my vehicle.

So guys what all the modifications are to be done to drift an OHC.

AFAIK no modification is needed for drifting. Just try practicing it in open grounds.
PS: I have never done drifting.[lol!] Its just my advice.

"FWD" cars"CANNOT DRIFT".All cars drifting in the movie "TOKYO DRIFT" were "RWD" cars.

Drifting means -

"Intentional oversteer causing loss of traction in rear wheels in controlled manner where the rear slip angle is more than inner slip angle"

Explanation -

Now according to the above statement,to get the rear slip angle more than the front slip angle (i.e slipping out the tail of your car) & keeping it out continuously you need a rear wheel drive car which we don't have in India.There are some exceptions but they cant be used.

Power Slide -

What ever people do on Indian vehicles and refer to it as "Drift's" is actually called a "Power slide".

Explanation -

Now to do that power slide just run your car at speed of 30 -40km/h press the clutch & pull the handbrake turning your steering slightly to left or right at the same time.YOUR CAR WILL SKID (its tail will be to the opposite side where you had steered your vehicle)That's called a power slide. Now its a power slide because we cant continue it all the way long like the drifts are.

Neil that was a good explanation but i actually know the difference of powerslide and drift.I cant do what they do in tokyo drift i have written that i tried to do so,i belive OHC is an RWD vehicle.

OHC is a FWD (front wheel drive) car man.

RWD - Rear Wheel Drive
FWD - Front Wheel Drive
AWD - All Weel Drive

As far as i know there is very few RWD cars till now

1.No hatches till date
2.Scorpio (CRDe)
3.The bimmers
4.The Safari with 2.2ltr common rail engine
5.The new crv is available with just the rear wheel drive
6.The old sonata (go for the v6)
7.The octavia RS.
8.The Pajero & Prado can be configured as rear wheel drives

And i think the OHC is RWD.

To start with always drift/power slide your car in a closed circuit area.
Hope I speak on Vibhor's behalf here,
The Automotive India does not encourage people trying to pull off stunts on roads.It is not safe for you and the people driving around you.

In a closed area you may go ahead and burn rubber.

Now coming to the question what modifications are required to drift a Honda City.
As far as I know , no mods are required to drift an RWD.
Try chaining[combining] your power slides for the "drift" effect. I don't think you'll find enough long turns in India to drift.[lol!]

You forgot the two cheapest RWD The Tata Nano and Maruti Omni.

@Kartik if you are still confused whether the OHC is FWD OR RWD.Simply do a burnout and you'll get your answer

INDIAN OCTAVIA RS - is a FWD car
OHC - is a FWD car

and how did you guys forget the gypsy ? even that's a RWD.

Come on guys we cant drift the all above mentioned cars,most of them are SUV's.

For proper drifts we need RWD Sedan's.

& i completely agree with ARUN try chaining your power slides that will make it look like drifts

Almost every good sedans in india are FWD,like Honda city,jazz,civic hyundai accent,viva, e.t.c
Is BENZ W123 300D RWD.

Rear Wheel Drive is generally seen in Mid or Rear Engined cars, Its done to reduce the lenght of Drive Shaft. Anyways, This is going on tec. side.

Yes Mercedes W123 are rear wheel drive.I do own a 240D at present its a rear wheel drive.

Sorry... But I need to ask this.... what is OHC? The max I could imagine is Old Honda City
