New Ford Figo hatchback spied in India.


Mechanically, the new Ford Figo hatchback uses the same platform as the Fiesta sedan. In terms of engines, the new Figo hatchback could draw power from Ford’s 1.2-litre petrol engine, and the 1.5-litre DV5 turbo-diesel engine. There is also a possibility that a new 80bhp, 999cc petrol engine, likely to be derived from the 1.0-litre EcoBoost but without the turbo, could become part of the engine lineup as well.

The 1.4 liter TDCI diesel motor, a mainstay of the car, gets replaced by the 1.5 liter TDCI unit. More power (68 Bhp to 75 Bhp) and more torque (160 Nm to 190 Nm) is expected to be the result. A five speed manual transmission will accompany this engine.

Ford Figo production to start on 15th February.
The Ford Figo will be produced in Ford’s new Sanand plant in Gujarat. Ford will be looking at exporting the Figo to other markets from India especially South Africa and western countries, which will make the Gujarat plant an easy base to export.

New Ford Figo to come with 1.2-litre petrol engine. Both the Figo hatchback and the sedan will be the 1.2-litre TiVCT engine.

This engine has been derived from the currently sold Figo’s 1.2-litre Duratec engine. This has been upgraded to a newer generation of TiVCT engines. The current Figo produces about 70bhp of power and 102Nm of peak torque, however the new 1.2-litre TiVCT will produce about 76bhp of power and 103Nm of maximum torque. This engine will have variable valve timing and this is the most economical means for Ford to enhance the performance of its 1.2-litre engine. It will improve the performance and even the fuel-efficiency. The petrol engine will come mated to a five-speed manual transmission.

The 1.2-litre TiVCT petrol and the 1.5-litre Duratorq engines will be powering the new Figo twins. The diesel’s power will be toned down to about 75bhp and its torque will be about 195Nm.

Figo twins to get brand new 1.2L Petrol engine

While it was widely believed that next-generation Ford Figos would feature a derivative of Ford’s award-winning 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine, sources within Ford have confirmed that the cars will come powered by a new 1.2-litre petrol engine instead. The EcoBoost was proving to be too expensive for what is considered a cost sensitive segment. The new 1.2-litre petrol engine will feature four valves per cylinder, and could also get variable valve timing. Seen here in the picture is a picture of the base Figo. It is expected with a wide range of variants at a wide price tag.

New Ford Figo hatchback to be launched in India by year end

With the Figo Aspire compact sedan ready to set sail in the coming months, Ford India will launch the new Figo hatch by end of the year, reports OnCars. Both cars are already on sale in Brazil as Ford Ka and Ka+ sedan, though the latter has a bigger boot for South American markets.

On the outside, the hatch shares the Aspire’s trapezoidal honeycomb grille and elongated headlamps, while the cabin and the dashboard design will be largely similar to the Aspire for good economies of scale.
The hatch will share the same engines with its sedan sibling – the 1.2-liter 4-cylinder Ti-VCT petrol motor with variable cam timing making about 85 PS, and the 1.5-liter Duratorq diesel from EcoSport and Fiesta producing about 90 PS retuned for better fuel efficiency. The 1.2L petrol motor is the same naturally aspirated unit as the current Figo’s with a new cylinder head and peripherals. The 1.4-liter Duratorq engine that is currently used will be dropped, according to sources.
The Figo Aspire Titanium has been announced with Ford’s SYNC system with App-link and side and curtain airbags and the hatch is expected to share almost the same features at least in the top-trim.

The new Figo was spotted testing with an AT for the first time, which could be listed on the market in due course. A base-level trim was also spied earlier having one side mirror, small steel wheels, and black body fittings.

The Figo twins will be manufactured at the Blue Oval’s new plant in Sanand, Gujarat, with the production of the Aspire sedan having already commenced.

The next generation Ford Figo hatchback and Aspire compact sedan were spotted on test at Katraj near the outskirts of Pune. The vehicles were sans camouflage with only the badges being covered up in the front and back.

The Ford Figo compact sedan was unveiled as a concept vehicle during the 2014 Auto Expo. While we have been seeing the compact sedan testing regularly, this one of the first few times we have seen the hatchback on test. The car that we spotted was in a pleasant shade of yellow hinting that Ford will offer this vehicle in a variety of bright shades to make this car more appealing to a newer set of buyers.

The fraternal twins embody Ford’s new design language and will be offered with both petrol and diesel engines. The cabin layout and design has been taken from Ford’s current parts bin and looks very similar to what is available on the European-spec Fiesta and Mondeo.

Some of the features on the top spec variant of both models are expected to include power windows, climate control, and rear parking sensors, 2-DIN music system and a rear AC vent. It will be offered with the 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine as well as the 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine. Both engines are expected to be offered only with a five-speed manual.

The hatchback and compact sedan are being produced at a new factory in Sanand Gujrat. The latter is the American automaker’s entry into one of India’s fastest growing segments while the hatchback is a replacement for one of India’s most fun hatchbacks to drive.

The compact sedan will be launched for the Indian market in June while hatchback will make its arrival in September.

The new compact sedan will be powered by a 1.2-litre Ti-VCT engine and the diesel will be powered by a 1.5-litre diesel mill. The petrol will produce about 77bhp of power and diesel will also have a similar output too.

The 1.2-litre petrol will even come mated to a six-speed DCT (dual-clutch transmission).



There shall be no 1.5-litre petrol as it will increase the excise duty and there will be no meaning of the compact size of the vehicle.

The Figo Aspire is first in its class to have six airbags. Then there is the ABS and EBD too. Figo Aspire will have stylish interiThe Figo Aspire will get something called as Perimeter alarm, when someone unauthorised tries to break into the car and Ford claims the boot size to be large enough.

The Figo Aspire has sufficient storage space too for one-litre bottles in the front doors and 500ml in the rear door pockets. The key is called as MyFord where a user could promote good habits like wearing seat belts, limiting top speed and lowering audio volumes, else it will function in a restricted mode.ors and even the SYNC feature shall be added to it.

MyDock system allows you dock your phone, GPS or mp3 player and charge it as well. This is something similar to the Datsun, but it is done in a lot more premium way.

The diesel motor would be the same 1.5-litre, four-cylinder TDCi with 99bhp of power and quite high fuel efficiency. The hatch would be offered with a five-speed manual transmission as standard, while an automatic gearbox could be available as optional with the range-topping petrol variant.
