Surprise! Isuzu MU7 and D-Max Debuts in India

One of the ACI reader has caught ISUZU MU7 testing in pune, Isuzu has been contemplating to enter the Indian market for quite some time, look's like now they have after all decided to enter with their brute SUV called MU7 which is based on a pick up truck platform, in other Asian countries this particular model comes with a 3.0LT engine and i am sure the same will be carried over to our market as well.

It's interesting to see weather they will partner any other OEM in our country or will they decide to go on their own.

Do you feel this model has what it takes to compete with the likes of Fortuner?

It looks bigger, even bigger than Fortuner. . If they do JV with Maruti, then who knows, this might as well sell like hot cakes.

But the design look's dated, and even Maruti struggles to sell any car beyond 10L

Well Indian's do like a car which acquires the maximum amount of real estate, the only challenge is to build the brand in our market.

The same car is sold under many guises world wide GM/ Chevy/Holden to name a few, would be interesting to see their strategy in India.

This really looks a lengthy one !! but rear design is not good it just looks like something attached there after manufacturing something else. Where it is being sold ??

Rear and side view give the feeling of a van.

yes this is being sold in Thailand. It has given a good scare to Fortuner in terms of sales.

Yup. This vehicle looks massive and reminds me of Cadillac Escalade. Not practical for cities though but could help in establishing Isuzu brand in India. You never know if it becomes a hot seller in Punjab. MU7 is based on a pickup and sells as Isuzu Rodeo in U.K. A few images of same.

but one question, Isuzu just launcehd the new D-Max (the pickup that MU7 is based on) so i guess the new MU7 should be coming soon.
