Volvo V40 Cross Country Detailed Launch Coverage

Swedish car maker has confirmed that it will indeed be bringing its V40 Cross to India in second quarter 2013 with an unveiling early that year.

This third variant of the V40 model which was recently launched at Paris according to Volvo India officials is targeted against the Mercedes B-Class and the BMW X1 and believe it or not will in all probabilities be priced slightly lower than both these entry level luxury vehicles which hover around the 23-27 lakh price range for the their base variants.

Besides renowned safety equipment like City Safety auto-braking technology, the Cross Country will also be fitted with the V40's world-first pedestrian airbag technology and is also the only car in its class to be available with Pedestrian Detection technology.

It's confirmed that both the petrol and diesel versions of this luxury hatchback will be offered to customers in India once officially launched, but it remains to be seen whether the 152 PS 2.0-litre D3 or the more efficient 116.5 PS 1.6-litre D2 diesel version or maybe even both finally come to India.

It's confirmed that both the petrol and diesel versions of this luxury hatchback will be offered to customers in India once officially launched, but it remains to be seen whether the 152 PS 2.0-litre D3 or the more efficient 116.5 PS 1.6-litre D2 diesel version or maybe even both finally come to India.

Incidentally there is also aT4 petrol model with a 1.6-litre GTDi engine producing 182.5 PS and maximum torque of 270 Nm, which if introduced alongside the diesel models wouldn't be such a bad idea either.

Both petrol and diesel engine versions have start/stop and braking energy regeneration, no matter whether they are fitted with a manual or automatic gearbox. Prices and complete specifications will be revealed later this year with production starting in November. Customer deliveries in overseas markets are expected to start during January 2013.

Looks Quite a Beauty this car, Volvo has been known for class leading safety features and this one wouldn't be any different, Only thing Volvo needs to do is to Increase their Visibility in India and Improve After Sales.

V40 designs and shapes are better surely a charisma looks, but don't know how it works out well for longer runs considering strongly with BMW, MERC,AUDI.

Volvo V40 Cross Country to launch in India on June 14

Volvo has announced that the launch of the new car will be held on the 14th of June in Delhi.

Volvo doesn’t have a CKD plant in India and therefore vehicles have to be imported from its plant in Ghent, Belgium.

It’s ground clearance is 40mm higher while other aspects are similar to the V40 hatch.

The V40 Cross Country is more or less a full grown avatar of V40 premium hatchback which was unveiled at Geneva Motor Show 2012. Though it appears to have a stance like a compact SUV in images but don’t mistake it for one. However, in India it has debuted as Volvo’s answer to German marquee – Audi Q3, BMW X1, Mercedes Benz A-Class, B-Class and Mini Countryman. Priced at Rs.28.5 Lakh, this car has received 70+ bookings already and sales commence from today onwards.

Volvo has inaugurated their new dealership, Swede Auto.



It is located in Gurgaon Sector - 53 and spread over an area of 3650 Sq. meter.



The showroom is owned by Jaipal and Vivek Ahluwalia. Being honest, outside the place is dusty and proper parking for media cars was an issue.



Adding some oomph to the show.



The actual limelight of the event - Volvo V40 Cross Country.



These headlamps are no ordinary. They're active bending headlamps with dual xenons.



A beautiful and futuristic front end design.



It’s a cross over. Don’t mistake it for a typical Compact SUV.



Taillamps are strikingly similar to Volvo's SUVs.



And so is the complete rear view.



Neatly embossed "Cross Country" on the rear bumper lower cladding.



The rear design is curvy throughout.



Lower end of the car is black for an SUV'ish stance.



An in-built roof spoiler.



Alloy wheels are tastefully simple.



Volvo has focused more on the ‘Glossy black touch’ rather than use of excessive chrome.



Three windscreen washer jets on the hood are unique.



The boot space is comparable with that of entry level mid-size sedans but offers more utility.

Its front seats are the best place to be in.



The rear ingress / egress might not be too comfortable for elders.



The rear seat space is limited.



The headroom will be an issue as well. I'm 5'11" and my head was almost touching the roof.



Small storage spaces to keep nicknacks. Note the fineness of the leather stitching.
