Plus, the company is now also studying market to bring a new vehicle as a part of global mid-term business plan.
The disclosure was made by Mr. Kenichi Horinouchi, Executive Officer, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, at a meeting with HM-Mitsubishi channel partners here today. Mitsubishi's global mid-term business plan for FY 2014 - FY 2016, he stated that the company with Hindustan Motors will study the introduction of another vehicle during this period. Pajero Sport automatic version is scheduled to be manufactured at Hindustan Motors‟ state-of-the-art plant at Tiruvallur near Chennai. A host of premium Mitsubishi vehicles like Lancer, Cedia, Pajero, Outlander, and Pajero Sport have kept auto connoisseurs and general customers enthralled since 1998, when the two automobile giants joined hands.

While acknowledging the adverse impact of the ongoing economic slowdown on the auto industry in India, Mr. Horinouchi stressed upon Mitsubishi‟s commitment to its Indian operations in association with Hindustan Motors. He discussed with the company‟s dealers and officials the roadmap for revitalization of MMC brand in India which is expected to lead to improved profitability and financial conditions. Focus on SUVs, which have over the years carved out a distinct and coveted space for MMC in the auto world, will remain a crucial and driving force in the mid-term plan, he added.

“Sales increase of SUVs in partnership with Hindustan Motors will boost the business fundamentals of our operations in India. Volumes will grow through launch of strategic models,” Mr. Horinouchi observed. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Uttam Bose, Managing Director of Hindustan Motors, reiterated the company‟s commitment to the strong ties with Mitsubishi for the current and future business in India.

That's a welcome move. But Mitsubishi is very passive about Indian operations,if they continue to be with HM there is no way the masses are going to part with their money on a Mitsubishi.

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is available in Automatic here in Kuwait. Attached picture is about 4-speed automatic available in Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. The automatic is CVT type. The question is how much on the road? It is already touching 30Lakhs. So for the automatic add another lakh. Is it worth?

Re: Mitsubishi Pajero Automatic Coming. Plus, New Car on Cards

Mitsubishi to launch Mirage, Attrage and Pajero Sport AT in India, expected to launch in festive season of 2014.

Mitsubishi Mirage

Mirage hatchback is the B-segment product from the Japanese automaker; the car is expected to land later next year or early 2016. Mitsubishi manufactures its SUVs at the HM's Chennai plant and the hatch will be manufactured in the same plant but initially will be imported from Thailand through CKD.

Mitsubishi Attrage

Attrage sedan is derived from Mirage, the car measures juts over 4 meter so the vehicle would not fall in sub-4m (excise duty benefit) but it will be priced competitively just like the Ford did with Classic. Like the hatch sibling, Attrage is also powered by the same 1.2 liter three port engine matted to five speed MT and CVT AT. If priced well this could be the pick among the lot and will provide the much needed ground for the company which was lost after the Lancer faded away.

To achieve all this, a diesel motor along with petrol becomes a must for company in India.

Mitsubishi to launch SUV/Hatchback/Sedan in 2015/16

Mitsubishi confirmed that it has big plans for the Indian market post the end of its contract with Hindustan Motors in 2015.
Mitsubishi said that it plans to bring in new SUV next year while its bread and butter models will come in starting 2016. While the names of the SUVs weren’t disclosed, Mitsubishi did reveal the names of the other smaller models – the Attrage and the Mirage.
Hatchback
The Mirage is a hatchback which measures less than 4m in length and it will compete with the likes of the Nissan Micra, Maruti Swift and Hyundai Grand i10.
The Mirage and Attrage with a 1.2l petrol motor tuned to make 78PS of power and 100Nm of torque. A five-speed manual transmission will be standard while the company may also offer automatic as a option. There is also the probability of a diesel motor later in the pipeline

Sedan
The Attrage is the booted version and measures more than 4m in length. It will compete with the Sunny, Scala and Etios.

Mitsubishi will make Tamil Nadu its manufacturing hub where both the Mirage and Attrage will be manufactured. The company also plans to expand its dealer network in India by the end of 2015

Mitsubishi Mirage and Attrage to hit in Indian road by 2016

Mitsubishi to launch the Mirage and Attrage in India in 2016

Mitsubishi is a name in India that isn’t synonymous with small cars. However, come 2016, that perception of the Japanese manufacturer is set to change. At the launch of the Pajero Sport automatic, Mitsubishi confirmed that it has big plans for the Indian market post the end of its contract with Hindustan Motors in 2015. Mitsubishi said that it plans to bring in new SUVs next year while its bread and butter models will come in starting 2016. While the names of the SUVs weren’t disclosed, Mitsubishi did reveal the names of the other smaller models – the Attrage and the Mirage.

We had reported earlier that Mitsubishi will be bringing in these cars to the Indian car market in 2015. However, it is now understood that the launch has been deferred till 2016. The Mirage is a hatchback which measures less than 4m in length and it will compete with the likes of the Nissan Micra, Maruti Swift and Hyundai Grand i10. The Attrage is the booted version and measures more than 4m in length. It will compete with the Sunny, Scala and Etios.

Mitsubishi is expected to launch the Mirage and Attrage with a 1.2l petrol motor tuned to make 78PS of power and 100Nm of torque. A five-speed manual transmission will be standard while the company may also offer automatic as a option. There is also the probability of a diesel motor later in the pipeline.

After its contract with Hindustan Motors ends, Mitsubishi will make Tamil Nadu its manufacturing hub where both the Mirage and Attrage will be manufactured. The company also plans to expand its dealer network in India by the end of 2015. However, looking at how the goal posts have moved with advancements in the hatchback and sedan segment in India since Mitsubishi announced its plans, the Japanese company may be swimming against the tide.

I'm creating a separate thread as the current one was related with Global launch of Mirage and this thread will be dealing with it's launch in India.

They are planning to launch a 2012 model in 2016? what are they smoking? As of today, they do not have any visibility on their current market condition; 2016 would be a far dream.

Re: Mitsubishi Mirage and Attrage to hit in Indian road by 2016

I have seen these vehicles here in Dubai. And even by budget standards, their styling is extremely pathetic. No wonder nobody buys them in Dubai.

Mitsubishi should instead launch the Lancer EX in India, with both 1.6 and 2.0 petrol engines and also a diesel engine, probably 2.0 ltr. And of course, the CVT/AT with all these engine options.

Mitsubishi may bring Delica MPV, Attrage sedan to India

Mitsubishi Motors has said that it may be looking at getting the Delica MPV and the Attrage sedan to India in the next three to four years. In the MPV segment, the Delica would go up against the Toyota Innova, which means that prices might be in the range of Rs 15-20 lakh.

Mitsubishi also plans to get new Outlander and Montero SUVs in petrol guise this year; diesel variants will follow next year.
Attrage sedan may make its way here by 2017 and willl come with a diesel engine mated to a manual gearbox and there will be no automatic option.

Re: Mitsubishi may bring Delica MPV, Attrage sedan to India

In industry, there is a saying; "if you cannot do something worthwhile, do not do anything". It is said to minimise losses. I wonder when HM / Mitsubishi will learn that. Sorry to say this, but both vehicles have the look of a born looser.

PS: I keep wondering, with an offering like Lancer, how did they manage to loose.
