The disclosure was made by Mr. Kenichi Horinouchi, Executive Officer, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, at a meeting with HM-Mitsubishi channel partners here today. Mitsubishi's global mid-term business plan for FY 2014 - FY 2016, he stated that the company with Hindustan Motors will study the introduction of another vehicle during this period. Pajero Sport automatic version is scheduled to be manufactured at Hindustan Motors‟ state-of-the-art plant at Tiruvallur near Chennai. A host of premium Mitsubishi vehicles like Lancer, Cedia, Pajero, Outlander, and Pajero Sport have kept auto connoisseurs and general customers enthralled since 1998, when the two automobile giants joined hands.
While acknowledging the adverse impact of the ongoing economic slowdown on the auto industry in India, Mr. Horinouchi stressed upon Mitsubishi‟s commitment to its Indian operations in association with Hindustan Motors. He discussed with the company‟s dealers and officials the roadmap for revitalization of MMC brand in India which is expected to lead to improved profitability and financial conditions. Focus on SUVs, which have over the years carved out a distinct and coveted space for MMC in the auto world, will remain a crucial and driving force in the mid-term plan, he added.
“Sales increase of SUVs in partnership with Hindustan Motors will boost the business fundamentals of our operations in India. Volumes will grow through launch of strategic models,” Mr. Horinouchi observed. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Uttam Bose, Managing Director of Hindustan Motors, reiterated the company‟s commitment to the strong ties with Mitsubishi for the current and future business in India.
