Tata Motors' Managing Director Karl Slym died in Bangkok earlier today, the automobile manufacturer said in a statement. Further details were not immediately available. Slym was in Bangkok to attend Tata Motors Thailand's board meeting, it said.

"I am deeply saddened to inform you about the untimely and tragic demise of our company's Managing Director Karl Slym. In this hour of grief, our thoughts are with Karl’s wife and family," Tata Motors' Chairman said in a statement.

Slym had joined Tata Motors in October 2012."

He had just begun changing Tata's image and was at the helm of horizonext, falcon projects, reduction of dealers and better after sales service.

Tata Motors Managing Director Karl Sym Passes away.

He was in Thailand to attend a meeting of the Thailand Arm of Tata Motors. He allegedly slipped Off in the Hotel in Thailand and fell Off few floors, suspecting his instant death. More reason is yet to come out.

Tata Motors chairman, Cyrus Mystry conveyed his deep condolences over Karl Sym's death.

His demise has come at a wrong time when Tata Motors passenger segment is struggling a lot to come out of red and he has set the ball in motion in his signature style!. Tata Motors is all set two display some marvels under his stewardship at the Autoexpo 2014 for a bright future for the company. His demise is a deep loss for Tata Motors which needs equivalent New steward who can continue the momentum.

May his soul rest in peace. !!!!

This is shocking news , hard to digest and grasp . The turn around expert which tata motors needed badly and who was doing is job superbly is no more . RIP .

Hope tata motors gets someone as capable and visionary as him .

It is indeed a huge loss for the Automotive world. Mr. Karl Sym was a visionary and has a good track record in his mission he takes up. His all of a sudden demise is is a great loss for TATA Motors which was in dire need of a visionary. He his loss come at a crucial time when TATA Motors was about to launch crucial models hoping for a badly required turn around and launch of futures models at this Auto Expo.

Ratan Tata had a tough time searching for a visionary and dedicated person to lead TATA MOTORS. His search ended with Sym before he handed over his reigns to Cyrus Mystry. He was fully confident with Mr. Sym. Now Cyrus has the challenge to search another equivalently dedicated man. I hope Ratan joins him in this search.
