New Fiat Linea Classic Arrives: The Low-Cost Version of Linea

Fiat India has dropped us an invite for the launch of Linea Classic tomorrow. This is a part of company’s plan of action to make space for the upcoming Linea facelift that arrives before the end of 2013, by slotting the existing Linea a notch below. Much similar to what Ford India did to its New Fiesta and Fiesta Classic. The Linea Classic is more or less a low-cost version of current Linea with evident cost-cutting but a considerable difference in the price tag. Do visit this thread tomorrow for more details.

Fiat claims it to be a sedan at the price of a hatchback.

1. How "considerable" ? Enough to flutter Dzire and Amaze ?
2. Whether it is being readied for fleet segment ?

Pricing is expected to be shed off by over Rs.50,000 bucks. Keep the fingers crossed. Full details will be available tomorrow noon.

2. Whether it is being readied for fleet segment ?

From their marketing tactics, targeted audience seems to be the hatchback customers. Though I wouldn’t be surprised if cab operators start considering it too.

Fiat is following an aggressive pricing strategy with the Linea Classic.The petrol will be priced at Rs. 5.99 lakh while the diesel will be priced from Rs 6.95 lakh

Sales of Fiat India has been slowly but consistently on the rise since last 4 months. Moreover, last month Fiat crossed 1,000 mark after a long time.
Finally, ending Tata-Fiat bond and setting up dedicated showrooms strategy is working for Fiat.
Way to go Fiat!

If this step clicks for Fiat, there will be a big impact on Dzire and Amaze. Hope the price will be in correct range. Rest the look and performance of the linea will take care to blow away customers. It may help FIAT to stabilize the brand value in INDIA and it will ultimately help in selling numbers for future launches like new linea, punto, jeep and abarth.

I am not sure, but I read somewhere that this would have 75PS engine..

And surely more of the sales figure would be from cabbies. Long clutch travel puts off many personal consumers.
