Yesterday we bid adieu to 2012 which witnessed a whole lot of new car launches and facelifts alike, it took the Indian automotive sector a level ahead with some game changing car models. Next twelve months promise to be much more thrilling to heat up the battle ground than ever before. The Automotive India has compiled a segment-wise list of new car models which are expected to mark their presence in a short while. Who knows – You could be the owner of one of these cars soon. 
Tata Motors is all set to provide the next round of refreshment to Nano. While the car will receive certain apparent upgrades, there are strong possibilities of CNG (In first half of 2013) and Diesel (By End-2013), along with a powerful 800CC Petrol engine making its way in sometime.
Those who do not find the looks of current A-Star much exciting now have a reason to rejoice. Maruti Suzuki could soon be releasing a facelifted avatar of A-Star with certain tweaks in the design to make it more appealing. It might make debut as early as in March / April. Plus, there are rumors of a price drop to encourage the sales.
Maruti Suzuki is ready with a mid-life makeover of Wagon-R in this tensed competition. You will find changes more or less on the fascia which makes the car look more sophisticated than existing model. The launch isn’t too far and could take place anytime within a couple of months from now. Apart from it, there are rumors of a diesel engine in Wagon-R but there's no concrete information on when it will be available.
General Motors has decided to introduce a refreshed Beat which was launched in the international market more than a year ago. This move is to make Beat in line with Chevrolet’s latest ‘family design’ and any major changes are not expected whatsoever.
Tata Motors is testing a mysterious car from some time now which is speculated to be a stretched version of Indica (XL). This version of Indica will largely target the commercial sector similar to Indigo XL. Specific details are still unknown but it is expected to launch at least by the end of 2013.
Reva was never able to capture sufficient market attention. Though the things could change once the company rolls out an entirely new Reva NXR in collaboration with Mahindra & Mahindra. This car was officially showcased on Auto Expo 2012 and production has already commenced since August 2012.
Hyundai is already testing the heavily camouflaged new generation i10 in India (Codename: BA). Even though there are very limited hints as far as the new design and features goes, but what’s sure is that Hyundai is working on a diesel mill for this popular small car in India.
Volkswagen is betting big on Polo. With spruced up 1.2 TSi and 1.5 engines, its sure going to be a driver’s delight. Plus, a DSG automatic transmission is likely as well. Gossips also indicate that a macho avatar of Polo, better known as ‘Cross-Polo, is also on the cards by End-2013.
Mercedes recently released the B-Class in India amidst of all glitz and glamour which has received a fairly positive response. It’s not surprising to find that German carmaker is now targeting on an affordable model, the A-Class, It will be the Merc’s flagship car in India. Although the A-Class is a niche model but considering the snob value and a set of exhilarating engine options under the hood, coupled along with a lesser price tag, it is bound to attract a reasonable amount of attention from audience.
The bug, as we all know it, is prepared for a complete makeover. Beetle will continue to amuse the onlookers with its cute looks, at the same time, it will please the occupants with much better space, equipments and performance. Thanks to the revised dimensions and new engine options which might include 1.4L Petrol and 2.0L Diesel.
