Guys, my car odo is nearing 30k kms, however the tread of my tires have already worn out. So i am looking out for the options best suitable for my car.

My wishlist is:

Less tire noise
Tubeless
Better grip (than current ones)

Do consider that my car is used mainly on bad patches.

PS: Also mention the cost of a set (5 tires)

Attaching a pic of my worn out tires.

If you are willing to upsize, try 155/70 good year nice one.

Total cost would be around 13k set of 5.

My car always carries 3 people onboard and i want no scrapping issues after the upsize. My budget is upto 15k. Any more options other than Goodyear.

Also are Goodyears better than Turanza?

Your alloys are 13'' ? right?
Go for michelin XM1 , or check newly launch XM2
Initially they cost a bit more but performance wise they are the best.

165/65 13”
5 tyres will cost you about 14k

Other options are from
Bridestone
Yokohama (bit costlier)

Michelins might not the best for bad roads. You should check out Bridgestone. Even I’m in the same boat and looking to swap the tyres of 800 soon.

I am using Michelins since 9 months and I feel they are quite good , even on bad roads.

My Alloys are 12". Budget is not a constraint. Can be extended, however the priority is fixed, lesser road noise and better grid on bad patches.

Yes, thats the only reason why i am not looking at Michelin.

PS: Vibhor, looks like you wont need a separate thread for your tire query!

His car is driven more or less on the construction sites. That’s where I'm afraid that the Michelins with soft compound might not last long.

Michelin XM2 are available now with the dealers from March'12. Users are happy with its performance, better high speed cornering, better road grip, etc. Price is hardly Rs.200/- more than XM1+.

I've had a good experience with bridgestone and toyo. Not sure if you get toyo tyres in india though. However I drive on nearly perfect roads in the UK and have never driven in India.

Re: Suggestions for New Shoes for My Alto

The rubber has been swapped. My car now sports Goodyear Ducaro High Miler (Tubeless). Size is same as stock. The only options available to me were:

Yokohama: Did'nt opt due to up-sizing issues.

Michilen Series: Although, this was the first brand that came in my mind after i started the seach for new shoes, i didnt go for them because of soft compound. My stock MRF ZVTS survived only for 30k kms (they went blad, literally), so you guys can well imagine what kind of roads i commute on. All this led to Michelin, go off the list.

Ceat: Was not sure of this brand, since i have heard more bad stories than good.

Re: Suggestions for New Shoes for My Alto

Please share the cost, why dint you consider 155/70 ? It would not have any problems.

Also handling would improve.
