Tyre Upsize for Vista

Guys,

As most of our guys know that I've covered 40k Kms in my Vista, so all the tyres are worned out. So I'm thinking of Upsizing the tyres while changing it.

Currently I've 175/65/R14 Good year in my Vista(Stock ones).

I'm thinking of going 195/60 R14 or 195/65 R14. If I go for 195/60 R14 lower profile, will it affect ride quality? or shall I go for 195/65 R14?

What are the tyres suit to my requirement?

I may install the tyres in a month or by next month with alloys[evil]

Advise me on this [:)]

Yes 195/60 R14 would affect ride quality slightly compared to 195/65 R14. You should go for 195/65 R14. Have you decided on tyre manufacturer and brand?

First of all, congrats for deciding on changing your tubes errrr tyres. Sorry [lol]

Here is a link you may check for the upsize specs. Tyre Upsizing, Tyre Upsizing Calculator, Tyre Upgrade, Upgrading tyres, Michelin Tyre dealer in chennai, Authorised Michelin Tyre dealer in chennai, Michelin India, Michelin Tyres, tyrestore chennai As per them, up to 2% of difference in OD is fine.

AFAIK, any upsize will affect the ride quality. 195/65 won't be recommendable as the OD difference is over 4%. 195/60 over the OE 175/65, you will gain about 3 MM of height (GC), which would obviously have some effect in the ride & handling. But I am no expert to say to what extent and how good/bad would that be. BTW, any particular reason for upsizing than OE specs.? I don't think GC can be a concern for Vista. Or just for looks? Then the choice is personal. But remember, Rims are prone to take hits with Low Profile Tyres. IMHO, the OE specs are decent enough for Vista.

Apart from OD, another important point you should be concerned about while switching to Alloy is PCD & Offset (ET). These links may help you better, if you aren't already been informed. BTW, what about the tyres? Michelins? That's the one recommended by many to me too, but I neglected it due to my previous bitter experiences with Multiple Punctures on stock MRFs (http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/f...ts/4651-how-deal-multiple-tyre-punctures.html) fearing of Michelins being on soft compound. However, they are the best in the lot and would be my next change when the current ones wear out. Would recommend the same to you too. Otherwise, Bridgestone, Yoko A-Drive & Apollo Acellere as prioritized.

After researching I found the safest would be 185/60/R14 with very minimum error, if not you can try 195/60/R14.

As I drove Vista and felt that the tyres are perfectly good enough without any issues with the size, but 185 can be considered and that extra 10mm will give little more grip without effecting anything on the car OE set up. The more you disturb the OE things then the more issues will come up[:)]

go for 185 ones mate. I've used them in past with my Marina. don't expect miracles tough, there's hardly any difference in feel. 195 would be overkill for OD.

I'll also suggest against Michelin(too soft, prone to cuts ) unless you're 100% city riders. try good year or yokohama.

I've not yet decided the tyre manufacturer and brand. But, ES100 and Potentia is in my mind.

After seeing the result, 195/65/R14 & 185/65/R14 is eliminated here[:)]

Remaining options are 185/60/R14 & 195/60/R14.

I too heard Michelins have softer tyres and for my use Michelins won't withstand. So I'm concentrating on other brand which you mentioned above

Thanks for your suggestion Gurrala.

As I'm going for Alloys, Bigger tyre will enhance the looks. So I'm thinking for upsizing. If 195/60/R14 is safest, then I will go for it.

From the Pics it is clearly shows that both are the safest upsize for Vista.

Which brand I should go for? Any suggestions guys?

Yes, Alloys are sure for this time[evil]

R15 is a good option, the spare wheel area in the boot, cannot accommodate the R15 tyres.And I mostly do long trips, so the boot will be heavily loaded. Incase of Puncture I'll get no space to keep R15 tyre in boot. So going for R14 again.

Oh yes, I forgot that. In that case you have to go for R14 only.

Have you seen any alloys ?

@Appu,

With extensive usage feedback to me, I choose BS first and Yoko next

For alloys, if you have a Reliance Autozone then check there, Neo, Plati, HRS are few good brands

That is great Gurrala. I preciously used BS in my Black Indica, So I may try Yoko this time.

For Alloys, I planned to go LAL shop in Chennai, which is very famous for alloys. they have more varieties in all brands. Even our Bikerboy(ajay), Surendar installed alloys from there only[:)]
